Driver/mechanic in action. (You knew it was going to break!)

Then he flopped it.

Another

It was tuff enough to take only minor damage.

I felt that the testing of the new RUBINCON was a success, though the winch seems to have a mind of it's own.

I heard that it was the one with the factory auto.... right?

Looks like it didn't fare too bad. But it does look like the soft top need to have been strengthened.

I also see that they revamped the skidplate to a BELLY PAN.

Looks like Ricky had fun in the "RUBINCON"

Yup.

He lost a u-joint in the rear cv driveshaft on helicopter pad. Then had a few problems with the winch, it didn't want to engage, and then it didn't want to stop pulling, or shut off. He had a spare shaft so he swapped it in before the rest of us were up and we didn't miss a beat. We moved on to the "flop site" and got that whole episode over with, went back to Crawford's and got stinky drunk.

Yes, another fine weekend in Tellico. The Rubincon handled well this weekend. I LOVE the automatic.
Thanks Steve.....
Anyway, I am deliberating driveshaft u-joint sizes. The 1310's are a good fuse, but I may consider 1350's for the rear, and delete the CV.
The new belly pan was cool, we decided that it was already much trouble mounting the front 2 piecs driveshaft to the old pan, so we just did the whole thing.
I hit a couple of rocks on lower 2 (Friday) and got no damage.
BTW... Lower 2 is a superhighway now. I did it twice with little effort. The big rock at the top is pushed to the left side and is not in the way. If there weren't people wanting to take some pics, I could have just driven it without stopping.

Guardrail was pretty straightfoward. I tried the ledge 2 times and couldn't get a good line, so I took the right side with a little work.
H-pad kicked my a$$ again. I had a good line, and went to give it a little throttle (yes folks, just a little...REALLY !!!!!!!!!!) and the "H" yoke in the CV broke, then took the U-joint..DAMMITTTTTTTT. Pulled cable to the top, and fixed my junk. Winch had some issues, but it got me out of the mess..
Then I got on that rock just passed Pinchrock turnoff towards Schoolbus.. And it got me. I thought I saw someone in front do the climb, but turns out he backed out before flopping...
I did it finally...
I got my cherry popped. Luckily it was a slow, easy flop. The rear corner is the worst.. I will get that fixed soon, and I think I have a spare top too.
Pat, Aaron's Mechanical A-hole did great.. He breezed G-rail and did H-pad without even taking a breather...We were all in shock..Even Aaron.
As usual the drunkenness at Crawfords Camp was out of hand. We finished my bottle of rum, several cases of beer, and all but 1 Corona that Aaron was saving for his breakfast..
We got a few names from the weekend..
Richard is now "Hank Hill" his jeep is now Propane, and propane accessorized.
Forgot what we decided to call Nick, but he is no longer a "stranger" here..His clutch slave broke, then fixed itself??? WTF???
Anyway all for now, I'm tired...
Again, a great weekend...Steve,Rich,and Matt, sorry we missed you guys..Pat, I'm glad you weren't there to fuel Aaron....He did fine all by himself......

Sounds like a blast. Hopefully in the spring or fall i'll make it to tellico, i'd love to go to the dixi run but we have the loonie run in canada up here that's a blast that weekend and only 3 hours away compared to a really really long and expensive drive. Drunk canadians with crazy rigs in the woods are probably just about as funny as you guys.

I am going to have to agree with Ricky about this past weekend...it was great. It couldn't of gotten better.
Aaron...do you have any pics of my K5? I need to get a digital camera. I have 2 hours of video that is going to be loaded onto a VCD.
Well, hope to do another trip soon, maybe I will have the Toy going by then.

Thanks again everyone that showed
and wished those that didn't, could have been there...Maybe next time Rich and Pat.
By the way, Pat...get your crap together, NANCY!
