I was thinking more of a Hovercraft/Halftrack mix.... We could build you a hovercraft front end so you can get up anything & a halftrack rear end so you'll have all the traction you can stand. What do ya think? I know BUTCHER would help build it....

Someone save this poor kid....AJ help him out buddy

i'd personally work my way around spending a$$loads of money on lifts.......... buy a sound system,,,,,,,engine upgrades,,,,a keg (n/m your 17) anyways......

... the guys are right......... wait alittle while and let the cards fall where they may and THEN think about how to lift it to the sky....

Remove front and rear axles, skidplate the whole bottom and just look for a jet engine to stuff in the back...SCRAPPE along anything you want!

Ok seriously. I'd say get your floor fixed, probably a few other small mechanicals will need to be fixed too...pretty rare to buy something without a single problem. Take the rear swaybar off, make or buy discos for the front and take it offroad. If you find yourself dragging the underside and getting hung up A LOT, then consider lifting higher. If not, they don't worry about it. Lift is no compensation for lack of driving skills.

If you're lucky you might find a D44 rear axle out of another XJ at a boneyard. Even if you do they may want premium price for it because they are not that common. Another option would be a Ford 8.8 out of a 96 or newer Explorer. Takes a small amount of cutting and welding to relocate the spring perches but it's nearly a bolt up mod. Then you get even greater strength and discs.

Save your money from lifting higher unless you REALLY need it and put it towards more useful stuff like lockers and drivetrain upgrades.

welcome aboard.this forum has helped me a lot, there are a lot of guys on this forum that know the xj's in and out.i have a '92 xj sport 4.0 H.O. i have a lot of rust on my jeep,my rocker panels are completely shot,my rain gutters are rusting off,and i have a large hole in the pass. side floorboard also.if your xj is already lifted 2 or 3" i'd focus on the engine and drivetrain, and the frontend parts.get it running good first, then save your $ and then do some add ons.if the hole in the floorboard is really bad,i'd maybe go ahead and fix it.xj's look mean when they have a few battle scars.if your gonna 4 wheel with it expect it to get a few scars.keep us informed.

hey thanx for all the help and sugestions i am going to have the floor fixed first just to have it done now instead of letting it gey worse. i did some research and looking underneath and it already has a d44 in the back and a 35 in the front. i am puttoing new rear shocks in the back for now becase those are shot and sagging a little so these will level it out again. also i was thing of putting super swamper sx 30*11.50*15 on it now until i get a 4.5 and adjustable track bar later. right now i am gunna make it run nice and fix some mechanicals with a few engine mods (my brother in-law works at an engine shop)

first off you do not have a 35 up front you have a 30, second you should atleast get 31 inch tires if yer gonna go to 4.5 , 3rd new shocks wont raise up your rear unless thier air shocks
