I think I'd rather it be slow than not have the post tracking.

So far, it hasn't seemed to make any difference from my perspective. Slowest part for me is making a new post - it takes forever after I hit the continue button.

 

Ok It was worht a try and it doesn't make loading any faster so turn the New Post tracker back on. OK?

 

New post tracking doesn't seem to have any effect for me either. Making a new post takes forever for me too. Please turn it back on, my memory ain't THAT good.

 

I agree, turn it back on!!! It is the same pace now that it was this morning when the new post tracking was on.

I've gone and read 4 or 5 posts that I already read and the load speed is the same.

 

I dunno if its related to this or not, but....
In every forum, most of the 'number of replies' column entries are blank!

 

not having the 'new' indicator will speed up the BBS because not as many people will come here! Turn it back on please!

 

Please, please turn it back on. I don't care if it takes longer to load with it. It takes me longer to find where I left off on a post.

zuki...that was prety harsh dude. i mean they were just testing to see if it would help us go faster...wixch would help you out the most. I'm on T-3 ethernet so it doesnt amtter whats going on its always fast. but it seems slower for me with the post tracking gone. not to mention it really is kinda inconvenient to check all the threads to see if i read them or not.

Pat, if its not too much trouble...would you mind turning this feature back on. pretty pelase. I"ll send you......ummm, well i havea comb, an earplug, OOOOOOOO a pen from Wolohan Lumber, and a spool of thread. They're all yours for just flipping the switch.... C'mon...what do ya say?

 

what ticks me off is see that big smailly face to theft whats up with that they kill my sig. of 1kb and leave that big ol'thing it sometimes feels that we are in the ussr or something i say get a bigger sever and charge 12.00 a year

 

Put the "New Post" feature back! Do it right now! We already spend too many hours here, don't make it harder than it has to be!

BBS Upgrade Tuning
Update: 3/28/2002 10:02hrs - I have shut off "New Post Tracking" today to see how this affects the BBS performance.

I don't know if the 2 things are related but it is getting damned annoying. Whats the name of that other board, Rockskulz?

 

Turn it back on please.. I can't remember what thread I read! It was a great thing to help you follow threads too. Now I have no idea what threads have new messages and I end up re-reading theads, and with how slow this server is anyway it takes WAY more time becuase I have to revisit every thread looking for new messages. PLEASE turn it back on!

 

Having the new post tracking was the one thing I enjoyed . At least you had an idea of what to look at and when . This also helps with traffic if you think about it . Now, I have to go back through the threads I'm interested in, and check to see which ones have new posts . I see all these changes being made, and so far no help at all to speed . I don't think it's the settings, sounds more like crappy server syndrome . A lot like my local isp , which is getting the ax soon . Pay for service like I get ? I don't think so... don't make this BBS the same way...
