Do you think they realize that the "tow hooks" on the beetle are really just tie down points for shipping the vehicle? I don't get the genius who thought the windshield made a better tow point. I'm surprised that it only caused two dents and didn't crack the windshield or just rip it off!

That is truly one of the dumbest things I think I've ever seen done. She's lucky the new convertibles have a lot more strength around the windshield to help the occupants survive.......in this case it let her keep her windshield. How would you explain that to the insurance company?

I was really thinking about a different scenario.

Think about what would have happened if the point of attachment on the jeep would have come off. Like a tow hook.

I have seen it happen plenty of times. It would have gotten real ugly, real fast. Nothing like a 20ft slingshot aimed straight at your head!!!!

Third dumbest thing I've ever seen! At first, I thought the getting stuck was a good idea because it got him a ride home with the cheerleader, then I realized the "him" was a her.

After using the windshield for a tow hook, I wonder how the top fits and how the front edges of the windows seal. Guess it will wind up on ebay motors.

THAT.. result wasn't too bad.

I mean, a tailgate, seat and winsheild is nothing to be happy about, but it beats a head.

Every time someone pulls a strap out or a winch cable, I remember reading somewhere about a group of guys. Pretty hard core wheelers. The so called "Big Dogs"

Story goes they were out one day and came along a truck stuck in the mud. What they didn't know is that the idiot stuck had lousy tow points. They tugged on his truck for a while, and eventually decided they really needed to get on it.

That's when the hook belw off the frame of the stuck guy and shot through the head of one of the helper trucks owners girlfriends.

From what I remember, everyone there that day, drove home, parked their trucks, and have never been wheeling since.

Like I was saying the other day.. I've seen a million trucks being winched. If there's no weight on the line, then I offer to toss something on. If the guy says "no that's alright" well then, I really see no need to watch a winch do it's work...

Actually, LEVE......the general public ISN'T getting dumber when it comes to connecting load-to-winch. When I wuz a kid we had a Ferd 2T Flatbed with a Braden Model M-5 winch with 300' of 5/8" cable on it. We usually got called to pull out a stick whachamacallit when everything else had failed. The BIGGEST PROBLEM was making sure that the stuckee connected to something that WOULDN'T COME OFF!

Nobody has any idea how much a big winch like that will pull, and it can EASILY "Z" a heavy truck frame.......that's pulling one frame rail such that it actually measures AHEAD of the other.....if it is hooked to just one bumper hook. I've had people hook to a flimsy body panel and in the darkness I couldn't see the lousy purchase and I'd pull the entire a$$ end off the body
!!! I just could not COUNT the number of front bumper hooks I've seen bent like a pretzel.......but luckily still held on.....and bumpers....forget it; they were toast before I really got pulling hard.
I started carrying regular wire rope bridles that; when used with a snatch block in the middle of the bridle; would distribute the pull on both sides of the frame of whatever I hooked onto.

That's just unbelievable. I showed my wife he pictures and she said who would be dumb enough to show the world what a stupid thing they did? Its bizzare that they documented it with photos. Were they looking for a laugh? I've know people that will do stupid, dangerous and destructive things just because they think its funny. Kinda makes me wonder.
