First effort with the new welder...turned out pretty nice

I'm never going to be worried about scraping the sides on rocks and kinda didn't like the unfinished look of leaving the bumper ends off so..found some tubing that works pretty well with minor trimming inside the endcaps. Learned a lot (like you can bend tubing by welding on it
) the next one will be better!!

AkDale - this weighs 42 lbs, bet yours is closer to 50 with all that tubing along the sides!

Thanks for the kind words

Yeah it mounts in the 4 holes the factory hitch/tiedowns were bolted to. Seems plenty strong but may make another attachment point at those rear body mounts too.

Might be interested in making a few more if I can get a couple details worked out. PM me if you're interested.

It turned out nice, yes you can bend tube with heat while welding. What is the thickness. 3/16" is a good thickness to use. as far as your question on the welding turn your heat down a little or weld in spurts dont try and finish it all in one pass. (ie) weld the top of the reciever on one side then flip it over and weld the bottom on the opposite side, letting each one cool some before starting the next weld. alternate between the sides and that should help on the heat warping of the steel...

WB - the 2 inch lights came from NAPA. Funny thing is they have 2 kinds, made in Mexico for $1.99 each or Made in USA for $3.99 each...even though they look identical I bought the USA ones. Someone somewhere needs his job. Had to order the clear ones, the NAPA here only stock the ambers.

You may want to consider LED ambers, I need to follow my wife across town and see how visible they are for turn signals. The ovals are plenty bright for stop lights though, much brighter than stock. I just really like the look of the round lights ..(and I can't cut those oval holes very easy either! Yeah I know cut 2 circles and connect them but that's lots of work too!)

Anyone know about these "rare" lenses? Guy on EBay wants $55 for em...
