I had a new engine and turbo put in about a month ago. I have under 700 miles on it. The turbo failed and according to the Borg-Warner certified sales shop the turbo failed due to lack of oil. The engine made a weird noise from the beginning that the mechanic said was normal. The engine had oil and the gauge showed good pressure. Is there anyway that the oil lines to the turbo could have caused this problem but still allowed my gauge to show good pressure. This is in my 1996 k2500 Suburban.

I had the same problem I had my oil changed on Saturday and the mechanic told me that I needed a new oil pan that the holes were stripped out, he said it would hold until my next oil change. but a few hours after the oil change I noticed a weird sound being made in the engine. I dont even know how to describe the sound... I am not going to lie, I am very ignorant to cars and their repair. So I am looking for any help for what might be causing the sound and what needs to be replaced. Also, when going to buy the parts for repair, what all do I need to be looking for other than an oil pan itself? I did check the oil, and the level was good. Also there are no lights coming on the dash...

if you heard a knocking or clattering noise, you're in for a huge bill, your engine is toast. as for the stripped bolt You likely do not need a new pan but an over sized drain plug. available at any part store. tell them that your drain plug is stripped. they should know exactly what you need.

Please try to describe the sound so we can advise you better.

In these type of problems you can't understand in words. you need a proper person physically who can check the problem. In forum you will get so many views but i don't think who can decide which one is correct so better mechanic is right a person.
