OHV LEGISLATION & PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

The National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council in cooperation with off-highway vehicle recreation interests throughout Nevada will conduct an OHV Legislation & Program Development Workshop in Tonopah at the Ramada Inn Hotel on June 19-20, 2004.

The purpose of the facilitated workshop for OHV recreationists and businesses with invited guest representatives from local, State and Federal government, land management, and economic development interests, is to:

• Identify areas of concern regarding OHV recreation management including;
o Quality and quantity of opportunity
o Safety, education, trespass, and resource impacts
• Identify potential and needed benefits from a state OHV program;
• Review proposed OHV Program legislation;
• Identify points of concern, support and opposition;
• Develop recommended legislative language where there is agreement, and
• Develop a strategy for introduction and passage of the OHV publics proposed legislation.

Off-highway, trials and dual-sport motorcycle, ATV, four-wheel drive, and snowmobile enthusiasts are invited to attend and help create a positive future for off-highway vehicle recreation in Nevada.

A registration fee of $15.00 (single day) or $25.00 (two days) will be charged to cover materials, beverage service throughout the weekend, and lunches. Advance registration is required. The registration deadline is June 7, 2004. There will be NO on-site registration! In addition to the OHV Public Workshop an Introduction to OHV Recreation Management will be held in Tonopah on June 18 for local, State and Federal land managers. Leadership representatives from the OHV public are invited to attend the Management Workshop to share their perspectives on management needs and concerns.
