need tranny master\'s advise

Concerning a CJ2A or CJ3A, can the stock T90 tranny can replaced by a T98 tranny with no adapters? I've heard that a T98 can be bolted in between a Dana 18 T-case and an L-head engine but I wanted to verify this. Has any body out there done this swap?

thanks

To make it as painless as possible, you'll need to find a T-98 out of a Willys. I looked into this a while back for JEEPNCHICK's '47, even found a few T-98's cheap, but they were the 2WD models, not the same animal. The setup you're looking for is rare, but a friend picked one up (whole basketcase jeep) for $100. They were options on the mid 60's CJ-5's. If you find one, yes, they bolt in. Of course, with adapters anything is possible, just need a lot of $$$.
