Re: Need Pic\'s of Coil Setup\'s...

my 1st version had cheap hitch and it cracks after few months.
I need to find out better and stronger setup during winter...
Lateral forces were too much for it.

Skoda Faforit has berfect coils for my system. I think they might be too soft for pavement use /wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif
Anyway I will try them and post some pics how they flex. Skoda coils are about 10cm longer.
I will try also coils at front but now I have too much to do Tracker motor/tranny/t-case + SJ413 t-case swap to my LWB.

Re: Need Pic\'s of Coil Setup\'s...

I think i may lean towards the four ling setup that uses tractor tie bars as links. Much like the setup the billtooly (I beleave that's his name) uses. But i am still trying to think of what springs to use. I am not going to be using a sammy body on it, i will be fabbing my own, so it's gonna be lighter in the front and rear. SO i don't want a spring thats too stiff. Heep coils seem like they would be way too stiff.

Re: Need Pic\'s of Coil Setup\'s...

I USED VW RABBIT REAR COILS . THEY ARE SUPER SOFT. BUT AEROSTAR VAN REAR COILS SEEM TO BE THE COMPROMISE BETWEEN VW'S AND HEEPS. THE VW'S DON'T STRETCH AS FAR AS I'D LIKE SO I;M GONNA STACK EM WITH SOME DIRT TRACK CAR SPRINGS THAT I HAVE FOR A DUAL RATE KINDA THINGY. (POOR MANS COILOVER) USING THE NEW PRO COMP 15" TRAVEL SHOCKS DOWN THE MIDDLE.

87 sammy (RAIL BUGGY) PROJECT 50 % complete. isuzu/chevy luv motor, auto tranny, 2 t-cases nissan/zook 7.5:1,tube chassis,4link vw rabbit coils rear,36"tsl's, 1/2 ton GM axles welded.
