alright, so i'm about to put a new interior in the commando and i've decided to finally deal with the water leaks. in order to do so, i need a few things that autozone doesn't exactly carry. can ya'll tell me where to find:

1) weatherstripping for the liftgate area of hardtop
2) weatherstripping that goes between the roll-down windows and the door
3) a rust-free or, at least, structurally sound (ie. no holes) liftgate

thanks

The other tow items in your list are frequently found on Ebay, especially the seals for the window (cat whiskers, upper door seals). Lift gates show up from time to time, although it may come with a free top attached.

The lift gate rubber I got from Jeepster Jim, brand new.
I believe Don Fletcher (Jeepdog) is selling new door/window rubber.
Try Mark Veibert for the tail gate, he had some reproductions. All these guys have on the Want ads/Classified section of the bbd.

good luck

I live right down the road from ya, Simpsonville SC. And i would be willing to help you out on the lift gate. Mine come's with the top though. I have decided not to put the top back on. It's painted and sealed, but has been covered with a tarp and out side for the last several years so i don't know if the rust monsters have taken hold yet. If your intrested let me know.

Kevin, if he doesn't want the top, let me know and I may take it off your hands. I'm not too far away, right between Winston-Salem and Greensboro, and I've decided to put my beater on the road for a while, and the top has a bad case of cancer.

I have a spare lift gate with no rust or filler and a spare top as well I am going to sell. I am just across the SC border in Belmont, NC.

I also have the rubber to go with the top sealing around the windows and around the tailgate and hatch. I think I have some pictures at home I can send if anyone is interested. My parts have been in a storage shed for the last 10 years.

I will be willing to part with the top, when ever anyone want's to come and get it. It is painted a metalic silver and black. little to no rust last time i checked. I will be off on friday so i will check it out then and get back to any one that is intrested in it. I also have the original metal headliner strips and the wood peace that went between the top and the windshield. Not sure what the going rate is but i am sure who ever get's it, it will be at a fair price.

Well I'll jump in here too.
I have a good lift gate, good used weatherstripping(as long as it comes off okay), and a couple of rusty tops. I have one good top except that I cut part of the header that meets the windshield to try and make it fit my "raised cowl" Jeepster. I still have the part that I cut out and it could be welded back in if anyone is interested.
