Need Fuel Injection--How much can I expect to pay?

I just got back from the Land between the lakes Jeep Jamboree. I went on a pretty hard trail, my edelbrock carb didn't like the steep hills. It died often going up and down some of the hills, there was even one hill so steep I couldn't climb because of the carb. So I NEED FUEL INJECTION. How much can I expect to pay for a fuel injection system? And what type/brand is the best and easiest to install??? I've also heard that edelbrock makes an off-road kit for my carb. Will it actually allow me to climb steep hills/rock without problems? It is only $12.

There are lots of options for your 350...pick up a jegs catalog if you want to buy one or hit a junkyard and find a TBI 350 to get parts from. Probably look at spending around $1000 minimum if you plan on doing all the work yourself.

The off-road kit is a set of spring loaded needle/seats. If you do this, lower your float levels, and make sure your carb is tuned for your application you should have better luck with that carb. I have some more info that I'll post for you tomorrow when I'm at work...related to this.

I used to run a 600 CFM Edelbrock and just bought a Holley Projection 700 D system for the same reasons. The off-road kit and float adjustments will help with the bouncy stuff the most but nothing I have found will help in the near vertical situations. I am still finishing up the Holley system and will probably post my observations here when complete and tested. BTW, I got it off of e-Bay. I have seen several of the Holley systems on there but none of the Howell ones.

I recently saw a video on Moab, and in one part of the video the guy leading the video had a pressure regulator in-line from the fuel pump to the carb. He reduced it saying that when you are climbing steep elevations, your carb can flood out and fuel can acutally spill out of the bowl of the carb. It didn't show his Jeep the whole time, but I don't think he had any probs.

There are several options for a fuel injection conversion. Some of the companies on the internet are Affordable Fuel Injection, Howell Fuel Injection, and Turbo City are a couple that come to mind. Just use a search engine to get the web sites for these companies. It might also be a good idea to use a search engine with "TBI Fuel Injection" to find several other companies or individual's with web pages showing there fuel injection conversions. I know it takes awhile to surf the web for information, but I've not checked my bookmarks in a while I'm not positive the links would work.

I have been running a holley projection unit for 2 years with great results...except for replacing the fuel pump and tbi. IT starts right up when its -40 and runs great on inclines and declines. I carry an extra pump and TBI sensor...which can be robbed from a stock chevy and/or ford vehicle.

This is all for a 350 conversion ....
