Hello All,

I need to purchase a one piece axle kit for my AMC 20 rear. It's time to put in my lockers and have read that the two piece has got to go because it is the weakest link. I've been looking at all the sites out on the net and have seem to find that $179 so far is the best price, but not sure if it is the best or at least moderate quality(Superior is the axle mfg, Timken bearings...). So if anyone knows a great place to buy low cost, quality parts I would love to hear about it. Or if you experienced guys want to give some input or direction that is always appreciated.

Also if this should be posted in the Wanted/For Sale section my apologies.

Thanks for any input

Yes, lockers and 2-piece axles don't get along for very long. However, beware of the chepaest 1-piece you can find. They aren't as strong. I've had some friends try them and all broke within a year. Stick with Moser, Superior, or Sommers. Expect to pay about $300 with bearings. National Tire and Wheel always seems to be one the least expensive. Whomever you choose. make sure you get a warranty. Superior is 5-years, Moser is 10-years.

Thanks Cerrals,

I gave a call to Randy's Rings in Washington. They started out at $224 for their M20 kit, but after i told him there were Superior kits out there for $179 they came down to $165 plus freight. They are using Yukon axles with a 3 yr manufacturer warranty. Look like i may make it out to the desert this weekend after all

I have Superior and I belive I paid about $200 for mine. You can't go wrong with either Superior or Moser.

Make sure you follow the install instructions correctly.

I wouldn't get the Moser kit simply from experience with Moser Engineering. We bought the Moser shafts for the rear of my dad's Jeep and broke both sides in the last 2 years. And he is running a stock 258 with stock axle gears. Moser warrantied the first shaft (which took out the Detriot locker when it let go), but we had to buy the second! He was not hot-rodding or abusing them either time, just simply trail riding. In our experiences, Moser axles are not all they're cracked up to be. If we done it over, we'd go for Superior.

I have the Moser, and haven't had any problems. I have a 258 with stock gears and 35's. The axles held up when I smoked both drive shafts climbing a steep ditch.
