goto junkyard and get an even fire 231, it is the same motor, same block, same bolt pattern, same manifolds, it is just the upgraded model of the 225

Just make sure it's from a REAR wheel drive vehicle. I hear you can get a lot more power from them than the 225. I might do this with the Commando in about 10 years or so.

If you're set on this, then look for a '79-'80 Buick or Olds in a wrecking yard and get a 231/3.8L Buick V-6 with all the attached accessories and you'll have a far more powerfull engine than the 225. The 231 evolved from the 225 and in '79 they improved the heads to gain 43% more inlet port air flow than '78 and earlier models acording to Buick. In '81 they went to computerized carbs and distributors.

i got one but it would need rebuild, so wouldn't be worth an 8hr drive up to Toronto Canada!
