OK so far you guys are batting 1000 solving my problems so here is the next one. My 88 Sami 5 speed has a NASTY VIBRATION from 2500-3200 RPM in 2nd gear ONLY while accelerating. Other than that the car has no vibrations even at highway speeds. No other gear has the vibration. I have replaced both drive shafts ie Motor to TC and TC to rear end. Made no difference. Any ideas???? Thanx

Check motor, tranny and Xfer mounts first. have you looked at the intermediate shaft as yet?
Make sure the drive line is neutral and the parking brake is off (so block your wheels) when you
do this.

I would check the shaft timing. Make sure the shafts are in sync. If you are off even one tooth it can make a shudderingly significant difference.

I second the axle wrap suggestion. Have you changed springs aor other rear suspension parts lately? The pinion climb under load can be extreme, especially with long, soft rear springs.

Re: nasty vibration in 2nd gear 2500-3200 RPM only

agree that it may be axle wrap. my buddy's trail zuk was getting terrible vibrations and clunking noises when under a hard load. the clunking was caused by u-joint bind due to axle wrap and teh vibrations was from the bad axle wrap causing the d-shaft angle to get out of whack. this was on a zuk with 33s spoa with stock springs.
