Finally got the film developed and scanned a couple really quick. Here's what happened, was straddling this washout and the ground under the front passenger tire literally fell away. Front end was doing a massive nose dive and bring the rear end up quick so made the split second decision to hammer it forward and try and make it back out if I could. In the pic you can kinda see where the ground gave way, the dark area by the rear tire area. (That's me with my shaved head down in the "ditch" hooking up a strap)

First we tried going backwards because it got steeper and deeper going forwards, but it wasn't happening.

Ended up pulling it out forwards and that did the trick. I honestly think if I would have had lockers and more aggressive rubber I could have driven it out. Oh well, something to shoot for.

Whoa- AJ, you've got a welder and an open front diff? What's keeping ya man? Just weld the spiders together, not to the carrier, and if you don't like it you can pull them out and put a lunch-box locker or the spiders from your old axle in there instead.

If you decide you like it though, open it back up and weld 'em to the carrier too.

The only damage was the front fender caved in a bit but that pulled out easily and the passenger front door lower one big dent. I don't really care about that, just have to remove the door panel and pop it out, no creases or anything. I've got a pic, try and scan it tonight.

Sycho, hey I thought about it trust me! But I no longer have vac disco and use my jeep for daily driver and winter duty so....Thinking of putting a Powertrax No Slip in the back and a LockRite in the front...when hell freezes over or I pick up enough cans out of the ditch.

OffRoadMudPunk....Here is a site with pics of welding the spiders and tells you how to do it also if needed. I really didnt expect mine to last this long welded up, but when I did it, I just happened to come across the LockRight for the D30 for $100 used and I decided to weld the rearend up, not thinking it would last this long. I was really wanting to change the gears out when I broke it, but it is still holding up. And as long as it is, I guess I will keep these little 3.07's in it

Mine has body damage! Drivers door and fender from when the wind tried to peel the door off (almost suceeded too), right rear quarter right under the window my brother decided he was mad enough at me that he was going to kick it in, mind you he got his attitude adjusted for him for that, several hail dents, and rust in all the usual places. And if that isn't enough, I too will go roll it.

I think the kind of body damage they really dig is the kind I've been out collecting: rubs and ******* pinstripes!

Man, those mountain bushes are BRUTAL on a paint job...

I suppose that just obligated me to post my pics, now. I'll get 'em up.

Oh well... I guess when its due for a new paint job I'll just drive out to AJ and let him camo it.

Unrelated: Had to get this off my chest; Isn't it supposed to be good trail etiquette to not leave lasting impressions on the trail, or anywhere offroad? Doesn't that include rubbing the trees? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for proper trail maintenance like cutting back branches and shrubs (mainly to keep the fire hazard down). For some reason, rubbing the bark off the trees because the driver just didn't feel like jockying thier rig to hit center between the trees, or slow down enough to realize you're gonna hit the stupid thing BEFORE you actually hit it really rubs me the wrong way.

Done venting.
