I have a 1994 ford ranger 4.0 and today I created a pond at the gas station. After I filled my tank it began to pour on the ground. It made a huge puddle of gas. It was pouring from the top of the tank so I don't think ithe tank is cracked.??Any Ideas??

replace it, or if you cant afford to or dont want to just dont fill it as high.

Yeah, id probably replace the gas tank. The problem could be the seal between the tank and the fuel pump. But youd have to drop the tank to fix that, so you may as well just replace the tank at the same time.

Check your filler pipe connection to the tank.

As everyone mentioned, pull it and take a look at it. It might be easy to fix (small crack/hole) with J.B. Weld or you might have to get another tank.

I'M JOKING. NEVER WELD A TANK. My father had a hole in his tank once and e pulled it down and put this tank epoxy stuff on there. Worked great.

i have an 87 ranger i replaced the tank 25.00 at the yard but before i put it on i primered painted and sprayed it with undercoat to help ensure long life it wasnt hard and the yard was full of them so finding a good one wasnt hard scott

Actual you can weld it jsut run it full of water first.

No IT's not the liquid gas that's flammable. It's the fumes. IT's real hard to get rid all of the fumes. IT's just safer t get a new one or patch the on u got.

Thats why you full it full of water. no place for fumes to build up.
