motor swap

an AMC 360 will bolt to your tranny, chevy 350 conversion mounts make it easy if you want to go that way, but the adapters are EXPENSIVE
i have seen many wranglers with chevy 350 in them.. it works well, buy theu spend a ton of $$$$ doing it

I spent around $3000 total, but that includes everything!! $750 complete motor, $350 tranny, then motor mounts from Hicks 4x4 were the cheapest, tranny to tran case adapter, linkage adapter, $250 radiator from 4wd hardware which required no mods, thenb belts, hoses, misc, etc. Labor $700, exhaust, shifter, all combined total was around $3000. But it runs great--the installation went quick and looks professional. I don't regret it.
