It was made in the Tonawanda engine plant in New York. I think it's called an L-19, and the one you have should have made (manufacturer's claim) 230 horsepower, but you and me both know there is no way a 454 is only making 230 horses! That's all I know about them. Sorry I couldn't help more.

sorry dude, they really are only 230 Horse, there is a major lack of aspiration, they are undercammed, underheaded, and underfuled, the torque numbers are ok though, e-z upgrades, bigger t.b, cam intake and heads, youll geter up twords 325 or so with the right parts and a stock ported t.b.

Deffinatly a monster is there just have to let it out. Around then it was so detuned it's unreal. If ya follow what some people did with those 454 SS trucks you can see it doesn't take toooo much to wake them up. I beleave those SS's from 90 to 93 are just a reg 454 you could order in a 3/4 or 1 ton.
