You have the plain old Motorcraft distributor and DuraSpark module. Same stuff we have been talking about.

You already have the large cap, so, a good cap and rotor puts your distributor in line.
The TFI coil and coil connector is a direct replacement for yours, and will improve usable spark energy by about 1-1/2 times all through the RPM range.

You are also one step away from the MSD 6 series upgrade, that will give you Capacitive Discharge Ignition, and Multiple Spark Discharge,.... (CDI & MSD)
This module will increase your usable spark energy by 100 to 1,000% on all things that count. The unit is about $135 for the base model to about $250 for the bruiser.
Nothing else to buy, works with your stock everything.
If you live in a non-emissions state, you can even wire it so you can use your DuraSpark as a back up incase the MSD unit fails in the field.

since i was the one that used the terms, ds1 and two are not much more than the generation of duraspark systems. the very first durasparks had some problems (as did the first hei systems) but have long since been cured. i more or less threw that at PM to see if i would get a reaction. i have recieved none.

I live in California, but my Jeep is a 1946, so it's not covered by any smog regulations. I would like to get rid of the old canister coil, and I'd be using a MSD6a. Could you run thru the wiring to use the DuraSpark for a back-up? I now carry a point system for back-up.
