recently purchased 87 yj and notice how the tires stick out 21/2" beyond the plastic fender skirts. tire size= 235-75-15. the owners manual states front/rear track = 58 inches. mine measures 62"(center to center of tire). do i have some modified situation? it's not a problem but am just curious.

most likely the reason your tire stick out 2 1/2" is because your jeep has "aftermarket wheels" that have less backspacing than the factorywheels.
(maybe try to idenify your axle by the differential cover?)

hmmm i think that the axle you have are close to corect..the cj's(widetrack) from the previous year had 58" axles...maybe they didn't change it in you book
