Thought I'd share some photos of last sunday. We just had a pretty good storm on the mountain so it was time for a Mana Road run to go check out the snow. Mana Road is a 45 mile long trail that runs around the "back side" of Mauna Kea Mountain(14,500 ft elv) at about the 6000 ft level. It's mostly a "two track" trail but there are many side roads that are great
fun,,,,,,,,,,the scenery is what always brings me back.

Here's Ryan's TJ

And it snows on those mountians (volcanos) too. When measured from their base Mauna Kea is the tallest mountain in the world, and Mauna Loa is a close second.

This photo was taken X-mas day 2003:

Web, most counties in HI are always looking for good cops. Their does tend to be a hiring preference for locals though...most counties don't issue a cruiser...they give you an auto allowance...lots of Camaro's, Mustangs and P/U trucks with no marking other than one little lonely blue light on top...

I was wondering about that
When I was over there, (Oahu) Most of the cops were driving GOLF CARTS with roll cages built around them. In some cases a very FUNNY sight

We sure do need more good cops over here But they are not paid well enough to have to deal with the discusting "ICE heads" that are taking over the streets. All the smart cops are moving from here to Portland and Seatle where they are earning about 1/3 more and the cost of living is about 1/3 less. It's a terrible situation,,,,,the state needs to pay them what they are worth.

All the rock on the Island is lava rock. Down by the shoreline is where I go most of tthe time,,,,,,,,,huge lava flows with 100's of sq miles of rock crawling. (see attachment)
