I'm sure some have seen this before, and like some, I was doubtful that it would work, so this morning, I broke out the propane torch and cooked my fender flares, first the ones that I'm selling, then the rear ones while they were still on the jeep. The turned out pretty good and it's said to last for quite awhile.

This is something easy to do. I just set the torch on low and started making passes over the flares, you can watch the change magically happen.

if you use it before the flares turn milky it works well. if you are like most of us and realize your flares have turned while your back was turned. useing armor all will last about ten minutes then they are milky again. looks like the burn worked fairly well. a pressure washe will strip the top layer off and fix the problem too. then use some meguiars natural shine vinyl and rubber protectant. after a coat or two it like new.

My flares laughed at the pressure washer, didn't do them a bit of good. I had heard about the heat gun treatment and wasn't sure, then I heard about somebody using a propane torch,.....not having a heatgun, but having a propane torch I decided to give it a try, and it worked out pretty good.

Some of those that said that they used the heat gun, said that the blackness has lasted them over a year, I dunno, but this is just a quick easy thing to do if you want to bring back a sorta newness look, doesn't do a damn thing for the deep scratches though

Looks good Rich. I did my rears on mine about a year ago because they looked all chalky after I got them off a TJ at the yard. They still look pretty good.
I used my salamander kerosene heater to do mine. (I had to do a little "bodywork" to one too with it
