You know how the tobacco industry has been accused of pandering to the youth market? Well, what if you owned a network of off-roaders? I know I would imagine to get the younger generation interested in the sport so’s they develop into future off-roaders and buyers of the products offered at ORC.

Is that what we are seeing with the “Youth ATV board” and the front-page articles on kids in OHV rec?

Shame on you, Pat Chicas…don’t you think there’s already enough people out on dirt bikes and ATVs making new roads and trails through our National Monuments and Public Lands? Be happy to service the generation that you’ve already got addicted to Off-roading! Let their children be part of a generation of people who have a lighter impact on our natural areas.

They say a 1000 acre desert canyon could accommodate 10 kids on dirt bikes or 1000 people just hanging out and receiving a high-quality experience by being in an undeveloped area. What do you think the population of our country will be in 20 years? Don’t ya’all see? Off-roading is the first step towards development!--I should say second step, the first, of course, is hiking., though not all the time. There are certainly places that kids on dirt bikes have gone that man has not been to in 100 years…the dry areas of Mojave National Preserve for example--! We should save our remaining vacant areas and their natural wildlife so they may be visited and enjoyed by future humans (not to mentioned studied by biologists for future remedies to diseases, etc.)

All:
I hereby disband ORC and wish you all success in your endeavors. I realize that my corporation takes away too much of our natural lands so that I can make a profit. I’ve really got enough money already and so do my friends and the politicos that I hired (boy, the FLA election cost a lot though) so I won’t be needing the projected income from aiming advertising specifically at young people to finance my retirement in Baja California, In fact, I would rather deal with Baja by my own wits and not by how many Mexicans I can hire to show up at the right time with more gas and some frozen margaritas…

All for now

No /wwwthreads_images/icons/shocked.gif, and I thought my communications skills were poor...

I've always wondered this, please follow my logic:

1. If Nature knows "best."
2. And Man is just a product of nature (ie... not God, etc.).
3. Then Man is doing the bidding of Nature.
4. So stepping in to halt man's activities on the planet is against Nature.

Where's the flaw in the logic?

I guess the only way to experience, and enjoy the heiritage that is our public lands, is to not, be permitted to experience and enjoy the heiritage taht is our public lands.
This is obviousely another, self riteouse, self appointed caretaker of our public resources.

pb--hiking isn't bad--it's the least invasive way to visit nature. but if you discovered a new YOsemite while hiking--wouldn/t you then go home and try to buy it?--and then resell if for mucho $? maybe you wouldn't--maybe I wouldn't --but how about a whore like PJC? if he found sonmething worth selling in the short run you KNOW he'd cinch the deal

What are we talking about? hiking can be the first step toward development by making primitive trails that then become jeep trails and eventually become roads to a new housing development.

Doesn't developement lead to housing, which leads to kids, which leads to basket ball courts that you are advocating on other boards as good for kids, so then developement is good now? I like how you took pictures off this site for your webpage, could you not find things out for yourself? and who the hell is PJC?

"Doesn't developement lead to housing, which leads to kids, which leads to basket ball courts that you are advocating on other boards as good for kids, so then developement is good now?"

OK so you cornered me on that one. but let's plan for human habitat development--homes--with an eye to providing lots of natural space for kids to play in. basketball--yes, but also places to fish and walk yer dog and go for a picnic and catch frogs--places that if we don't protect them from off-roaders will be lost in the next 20 years..

Juan, get back to the GM board so you can answer all the questions I've asked you, none of which take a rocket scientist to answer... Anybody from the SWB BBS is here-by invited to partake in the festivities over there as well... Especially take note of how few of the questions I pose to this joker get answered...

I swear Juan must have an IQ over .01... Genius...

Hey we arent asking for open wheeling in Yosemite, we arent the equivelant of 60s Hells Angels movies, or out reaking havok on fluffy bunnies, then dining on Condor Eggs in the evening.
Many off road clubs are the only organizations maintaing water shed practices, on trails that heve been established for mining or fire fighting purposes, and have been in use for scores of years.
If you have ever been out to Johnson Valley, which is an abandoned bombing Range in the Mojave Desert, you would see an area that is capable of providing off road recreation for enthusiasts whos familys have been involved in these activities for generations, without the wanten waist of a natural resource. Yet still no compromise is thought out by the organizations, made up of zealot environmentalists.
You will never be happy with getting rid of the off roaders, next it will be the fisherman who are taking wildlife and stomping down wetland grasses beside the stream beds, then it will be every ski resort, cross country skiing, and when none else is left,...hiking.
Your type do not look for solutions, you have taken up a cause that must eventualy ban everyone from the outdoors.
You would more likely be happier if, only a few priveleged environmentaly licensed officers, would go out and retrieve pictures for the masses to review and enjoy.

As four wheelers we do not want to buy every piece of land that we use. As a matter of fact, we would like it to remain, so it may be enjoyed by future generations. Not all of us are hell-bent on destruction. I enjoy the trails and roads that we have in our forest, because they allow everyone to enjoy the outdoors. We are a mechanized society. Industry and technology are what have made our society what it is. I enjoy the comforts and the advancements. We currently have plenty of wilderness areas, and roadless areas, we really need no more. What we need is management of the areas we have so the trails can be maintained. If we can restructure the management of our forests to emphasize management and education, not just blanket wilderness areas, we will be able to enjoy a sustainable resource for ages. Maybe in Mexico you guys rape and pillage every pristine piece of land you find, but we do not do that here in America. If you want to be such an advocate of wilderness and forests, then denounce every ounce of technology and go live in the wilderness. That means shutting your computer off right now and going away forever. Go find some cave in Mexico and disappear! We don't want you on our board, and if you don't want to be a hypocrit, you had better get rid of all of your manufactured items, and quit using any technology newer than about 1200 B.C. This seems to be the ultimate goal of the greenies, to take society back in time. Why don't you get a head start right now. In short, go away!

jeepfiend, your status says you're an addict and we know addicts will do anything and say anything to get their fix. How much wilderness is enough? Do you think our (US) population is growing ? haven't you seen enough areas trashed by OHVs to start wondering if maybe we're destroying areas that our grandkids might enjoy walking through?

OHV is under attack as you can notice from the banner on top of every page here at ORC--why should that be?

Listen here you pot-smoking, free willy, tree hugger. We help to preserve land more times than your type. There are trail runs all the time to clean up areas that others might have trashed. Around here we don't go to the local state park to ride, i enjoy going out there and hikin and campin from time to time...but i guess thats wrong now too. You have no fricken clue what you are talkin about. Your one of those liberal farts that reads one lil sentence about saving the land and goes insane on trying to save it. Its not dead, there is plenty of land out there, for future generations even. So leave this board, go back to Mehico drink the water and hug the only tree down there a cactus.

How the hell did kids come into this, this board is made up probably 1/4 of "kids". And without us kids, you wouldnt have a lot of the help here, or in me and dirt dogs case, no one to annoy you. And second, why the F&ck do you come to a board where what we do is go out and enjoy nature, where there is no civilization, that was just dumb. Have fun hugging that tree over in the corner and jacking off to it. Peace

you know what I mean ricey--little kids like preteens who are really suggestible and learn from their dads how to trash nature and piss people off with their loud exhausts, drive all over pristine meadows, drive through "No Trespassing" signs etc. Look on the front page of ORC and see the obvious pandering to little kids--and the "youth ATV board" fer crissakes.

Get a clue idiot,
Off roading is not about swilling beer, and destroying nature, its about getting out with the family and enjoying some time together away from the city.
Tresspasing and destroying meadowlands/wetlands should be aggressively prosecuted and fined heavily. But as a group, we should not be all be prosecuted for the actions of a few.

Why don't you come here to Alaska, I'll show you our vast untouched land and two other things: 1. ATV's, Snowmobiles, Airboats, Boats, and Aircraft are the only way that some can live in this vast WILD country, some towns have been here befor USA even owned the land can only survive with machines. They provide a means to get food, medicine, and it saves lives. 2nd: Let me take you into the Chugach mountain range and leave you! I would like to see how long you would last before we would have to come get your half bear eaten ass out of the woods with a noisy, bird scaring helicopter! It happens every year, some stupid tree hugger gets lost after leaving the TRAIL! Boy if you could only see their faces when the rescue helo hovers overhead or the Ranger pulls up on his Honda ATV.

Go crawl back into your hole and SHUT-UP, or come see me, I'll take you hiking!!! HeeHee

"youth" ATV's teach responsibility at a young age and give kids drive.. something to work for.. the mini series at a motocross track is the most fun to watch.. the "youth" ATV board is also a great idea and will give these kids something constructive to do...Would you rather see your kid with a wide ass grin riding a new Raptor 80, or hanging out with a gang carrying a gun because he had no parental involvement, did nothing as a family, and had nothing to work for, or look forward too? For me, riding with my Grand father and my dad are still my greatest memories, and will always will be! I started riding with my parents around 7 years old, still ride at 35 years old, participated in bridge building on the pipeline to keep the trail open, particpated in the Machikinee Forest clean up, even though we lost use of the land, the ATV club succeeded, Several clubs in our area including the Green Bay High Riders, 4x4 Forever, and many more have done things for the Red Cross, our mud drag money went to the Make a Wish Foundation, we've given kids with cancer Jeep rides and arranged Monster Truck rides for them.. the tree huggers in our area did this: put boards with spikes in them, into mud holes so people like me would wreck our rigs, put spikes in trees so saw mills would wreck equipment... save a tree, kill somebody, is this what your slogan reads? our reads United we Trail, Divided we fail! I just purchased a 2002 Honda Sportrax 90 for my sisters kid, my Godson... so he can learn the responsibility of "pride of ownership", keeping it clean and maintained, riding properly.. his uncle (me) will show him the responsible way to ride, and following me in my Jeep on his own ATV will be his greatest memories.. I can't wait to see the look in his face next summer when I bring him to the Silver Lake Dunes! Juan5burrito, whatever your user name is... sounds like you needed a "youth" ATV and something to do when you where a kid!

H8, here's pics of making new trails through meadows right here at ORC:
http://www.off-road.com/atv/rides/duckcreek2001/duckcreek.html

click on Photo Gallery to see some serious ecological damage to fragile woodlands.

How many ATV rides can you make in the forest before it's a rutted out mudhole? How about the folks hunting? can they hear your exhaust?

have you ever been awakened at 8AM on a Sunday by your neighbor running his lawnmower?--so you like to get away from that nuisance and out to the countryside? what effect on others does your noisy vehicle have?
