Ok so I was a bad boy 3 years ago and I have lost my Licence for 1 year. Now what to do with the jeep. I have a CJ5 258, T-18, amc20 rear, Model 30, with only 70,000.

So what to do with the Jeep.

1. Sell it
2. Teach the wife to drive it (will go through cluches)
3. Rent a garage and basically do a frame up restoration. I wanted to buy a new frame anyhow in Febuary with Tax money.

With the money I will save with not driving to work with todays gas prices I should be able to finace the restorration.

i'd do a frame up restoration and then teach the wife to drive it.
Dont forget about all of the "necessary" upgraded that are needed to the the restoration...

I don't want my wife to learn to drive my jeep. Selling it is definitely not an option. Go for frame off no question about it. Since you can't drive it you've got no excuse not to. My 2 bits

Can you fix it?
I got a welder and a grinder. Heck yeah I can fix it./wwwthreads_images/icons/cool.gif

These damn restorations take so long anyway. The more you dig, the more you'll find, so start now. Don't get rid of it, you'll regret it and never find another like it anywhere.

I am going to keep it. I don't think I would find another one with a factory T-18 pa inspectable for 1000.00. The wife got me a line on a garage with electric. Hell she does not care I can still go to work and bring home the bucks. So I guess its time to wheel it hard until I have to turn in my licence. While the jeep is down and I am going to have the engine rebuilt do you think I should go for the 4.0 head conversion.

Why stop at the 4.0 head? Go for the whole engine and use the parts off your 258 to make a 4.5L out of it. Doing the conversion and figuring out the wiring should take a solid months time if you work straight through it.

Just bought a DJ-5C! Sliding doors and right-hand drive are cool /wwwthreads_images/icons/cool.gif
