Loss of Power

Hope you folks can help me out here. On both of my recent offroading conquests I have had a sitiation. The rig will run fine at low to moderate throttle but will lose all power if I put my foot into it. The power will return as soon as let up though. I have a feeling this may be related to overheating since on both occasions it happened after an hour or so of running on 90+ degree days. Any suggestions will help.
PS - I flushed and replaced coolant nine months ago and all looked good.

What year is it? If it is the old closed cooling system, convert to an open system with a 3 core radiator. You can also try some Water Wetter, I hear it actually works. Other than that check plugs, wires, dist. cap & rotor, coil, air filter, gfuel filter, etc.

Did you or do you notice any engine misfires? Or is the engine stalling? When the prob occurred was your vehicle sitting flat and level or was it on an angle? When was your last tune up?
