I have retired my truck from off roading to house duty. Now Im building a (dare i say it here??) Suzuki Samauri for off roading only. I am doing the buildup this summer and have to do the lift first, because the diesal engine I am putting in wont fit stock height. The lift I have chosen to install has rear cj springs up front, stock rear from a 78 on up to an 86? i think that was the last year made? My question to you all would be, where could I find these and how much should I expect to spend. I was hoping to be directed to a body shop where they do lifts and the old springs are useless, and the owner would like to make a dent in his bill by selling them to me. Your advice is much needed and anticipated. Regards, Max

Just a little on my rig and the plans for it; 1.9 turbo diesal from a 92 jetta in canada, 4" lift with steering and driveline adjustments to match, snorkel, lockers front and rear, crawler front bumper, and defender style external roll cage, warn x8000i winch, sitting ontop of 32 or 33" ( ) tires. Really havnt comitted to tires yet. Beadlock maybe....

Sammy's are fun and cheap to build/wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif. My son and I built a nice on for him. Try a few of these links for parts and ideas. The 1/4 elipticle with 3 link is a good looking set up.

We used heavy duty Samauri rear springs front and rear on his with a SPOA set up for almost 5" lift. a 115% reduction transfer case and 4.56 gears this is just a small amout of the mods. Hope these links help.

I doubt that you can fit 32-33" tires with only a 4" spring lift. A friend of mine went SOA and put on some 31x12.5 swampers and they barely fit. J.C.Whitney sells leaf springs, military wrapped even!

yes you could try the 4x4 shops.. they usually have some old ones laying around.. or just post an add.. or find some lifted cj's and talk with the owners.. most will let them go fairly cheap.. i wouldnt pay over like 50 bucks.. in fact i have like 3 sets of them.. im on the coast in north carolina tho.. so you probably are not near by...

we are in the process of lifting my buddys stck sami, using left over front CJ springs, they are the same width, and usually give enough room for 31 inch tires alone..

Jeepgod, you are a god indeed if you have three sets just laying around! I need a set of front springs stock from a 76-86 cj5 or 7. If you can help, I am close by in boston. How much would you sell them to me for, and how much would postage be to zip 02136? Are they in good shape or would I need to re spring them? I am adding them on to a SPOA with whats called the missing link suspension package so I should get 32" under my wheelwells. Any help from anyone would be great, Thanks for any and all help. My regards, Max

Hey Gpn that is a hell of a sammy! Thanks for the pics, id advise all to check out his link. I am so excited to get this thing built and snorkel a little, climb a little and WINCH PEOPLE OUT who follow me! :) I was thinking about that 1/4 elliptical setup, looks really cool, i wonder how hard it is and expensive it is to set up on my rig. I also wonder how much articulation you get from that? The rigs ive seen with it on are coil kits as well with all sorts of frame mods. I have no welder yet since I moved here from oregon and need to get a house so I can buy just such things to play with. The set up im aiming for is the missing link suspension at rockyroad summit with glenn wakefeild, whom I think you might have spoken with if you built that sammy. I love their site. Thanks again, Max

Yeah Sycho15 I hear that 4" isnt enough (she said?) but i also have a 2 inch shackle going on and its a SPOA as well. It should be enough for 32" i just have to hope, if not then the body gets a 1" boost as well. Thats great that you get to sail, I used to with my father and my girlfriend all the time until we moved out here but school stops me. My father just invited me to go to La Paz outside of cabo san lucas to do some sailing on a 40' sloop. I wish i could but my money is spoken for by the sammy. Nice hearing from you, Max

If you could ship them to her let me know and Ill call you to make arrangements if thats ok. Please let me know how much you would like for them. Where in Oregon are you originally from? My younger brother lives in Bend. Wheeling would be great, let me get the Scrambler finished first though, the TJ needs new tires. I E-mailed you off-line about the springs, I think we can work something out.
