I have been looking for a larger gas tank since I got my sammy.......I was hoping that something like a sidekick gas tank could swap in, but everyone says no.....if you find out anything, please let me know.....
I've seen someone talk about a larger tank, sidekick will not work (it's too wide).
I was thinking about putting a fuel cell in the back and removing the tank all together, since all it's good for is hitting rocks and if you get a bigger one you will have even less clearance. Just a thought.

I'm in the middle of making a 22.5 gal. fuel tank for my zuki. I am using a 25gal drum with about 6" of height cut off the top lengthwise. I've installed two baffles and it is plumbed out of the front for the fuel lines, and out of the end for the fill tube. The drum fits with about an inch and a half of clearance on each end between the frame rails. It drops down 13 inches from the body and gives about 3" of clearance because of the removal of the smash pan. The thickness of the drum is considerably thicker than the original tank also. I'm about to flatten the removed peice of drum and weld it over the cutout, finishing the tank. I'm going to coat the inside and then modify the exhaust. That's my one big drawback, I must take the exhaust up the side due to erraticating the space provided by the manufacturer for the exhaust system.
Yes you are right, I like to take pictures, the only thing is I lack the enthusism to develope them(as the bag of undeveloped film canisters will attest). I have been taking pics and will get them developed for this project, but please don't ask me for soon, cause I don't get to work on it everyday(or week for that matter).
Be careful with a tank that large, One of the guys in my club back in SoCal had a 22 gal tank made for him...and he replaced his springs regularly....too much weight. I think he just stopped filling it all the way up unless he was on a road trip! I've got a 16 gal tank made a few years back in a batch of maybe ten or so. One of the guys in SoCal set it up, and I jumped on the opportunity. Unfortunately, someone asked about it a while back onthe board, but I couldn't locate him, or any info on the making of the tank. I don't even know who fabricated it. I'd be happy to let anyone take a look at it...and I've got some pics before it was mounted and after it was mounted...however, last time I tried to post them here...it was too large! so, send me your email if you want to see it!
Good luck,

We've got a couple of suppliers of long-range tanks here in Aus. ARB http://www.arb.com.au supply a 75L tank for the Sierra (Sammy) SWB and 85L for LWB. Another company here in Aus is Long Range Automotive. Their website is http://www.longrangeautomotive.com.au they don't specify a Suzuki tank but i know they make them. It's pretty easy to get someone to make one over here, most common is 70-75L, but on SWB Zooks with 2"+ body lifts u can fit 85 L of tank if it's done right!
Good Luck,
Jasen

a 20 gal tank made of 1/4" thick aluminum checker plate would be nice, or even 1/4" steel sheet
Im putting in a toyota tank in my 83, it will have a chevette engine so itll use a lot. Im just gonna bolt it in the back of the bed. Its a off-road beater.
