Yada, yada, yada.....

(Tom) I'm having issues getting the exhaust flange from the swift vendor. As soon as I can get the header fabed, the engine will go in. the rest of the mods to sammy #2 will have to wait until I can determine if the engine runs well...

You are the one to talk! you've been tweaking your sammy for a while too!!!

Are you building your own header in order to clear the zuk motor mount since it is in the other configuration? If you have a sami header all you do is grind the welds (holding tubes in flange) out on the inside of the flange, then take those tubes and weld them into a swift flange..(an aftermarket mild steel flange) You can get them for about 55 bux and then you got a header for your swift, the ports match up EXACTLY..

shoezuki..how did you end up with a swift gt motor without the intake and injection setup?..but you have the computer and wiring???

Scott, I am doing exactly what you are suggesting with the header. I got a good deal from summit on a headman header and am trying to get the swift boys to cough up the exhaust flange (which is $65.00 plus shipping by the way).

As far as the intake goes: Mine is T-U! Three of the four injectors are toast and the fourth doesn't look too good. The money I spent on getting your intake stuff is about half of what it cost in new injectors and most of my sensors don't work either-besides...yours only had 25,XXX miles on it!!!!

The Wiring and ECU I got from Jerry AKA: Blue Zuk (thanks again jerry) I got the whole deal from him ECU, TT modified harness, and the VSS installed instrument cluster.

Cool man, i am getting my flange through (whattheeee) off of the team swift board for 55 bux.. So you are gonna run the computer and injection and everything huh?? I thought about it but decided to use the dual carbs i bought a while ago, and I found a manifold to run them on the DOHC for 100 dollars!! Plus I had already got the tools for tunning them and can dial them in pretty darn good..(they don't stall really at all)..
I figure to have about 15-20 more hp than what you are doing, that is another reason for the carbs..Plus no wiring/computer.. I am just gonna run a swift 1.3 8v carbed disty (mechanical advance).. With a mallory hyfire-val igniton, it should be pretty sweet!
So what are you doing about the disty hitting the firewall..the mazda 323 cap? or something else? How about the thermostat cover (piece the hose connects to)? Are you useing a chevy sprint one? It will bolt right up, the one from the 80's turbo sprint..Keep up with the pics.it is nice to see quality ones..

later, Scott

shoezuki, your zuk looks absolutely fantastic! keep in mind that if you need i have at least 1 or 2 of most all the gti efi sensors and injectors i would let go cheap. your pic of the chassis shows a 1600 16v??

when i did the gti swap, i used a headman hedder that i already had for my zuk and had a machine shop make a new flange using the gti exhaust gasket as a templete and welded that to the hedder. the machinist used very thick steel for the flange so it would not ever warp.

my good friend made an adaptor plate that bolts to the gti head that he tapped threads into so he could run his doug thorly header without cutting or welding it. it uses two exhaust gaskets and has never leaked on him. you have to look real hard to even see the adaptor.

i cannot wait to see your zuk finshed. your work appears to be second to none.

Are the injectors on the motor shot? I have access to some more GTs. If you want to come down sometime I can show you where they are and help you pull them.

Scott- I"m using the electric fan because of clearance issues, want to be able to turn the thing off when I run through water, and becasue the GTI engine has the thermostat switch built in already. I suppose it is not necessary to use an electric fan, but it is easier.

Blue zuk- thanks for the comments. The 16V is my first zuk. the one getting the DOHC is the other. I should have the body back from the paint shop in a couple of days. I'll post the pictures whenI get it.

Capn - I got some new(er) injectors comming, but thanks for the offer. Now about those floor tubs......
