Well while i cant answer your question i have one of my own. My running lights and dash lights on my 7 are not working. It blows the fuse as soon as you pull the light switch. I cant figure out where a short is. Anyone had this problem?

With your hazards off and your headlight switch on what happens?

unplugged the hedlights nothing happened.
headlights are on separate circuit from driving lights

This may be a little off topic 304, I drive an older Toyota p.u. and the same thing happened to me with the running lights and dash lights. Tore that truck apart and just could not find the problem for about 2 months. Then the starter went out and the lights started working after I replaced it. Engine is V6 Chevy with stock starter. Who'd a thunk?

 

If I'm interpreting what you said (and what you didn't say) right, your hazard switch in the steering column has gone bad. I assume that when you pulled the hazard fuse the lights went out, that means it is not the parking lights but the signal filaments that were on. They didn't blink because without the rears being on they didn't provide enough load to trip the hazard flasher.

 

I think you have a good point. the headlights are working independent from the parking lights. yet the hazard switch when pulled turns off the side markers and parking lights. in the off position the side markers and parking lights come on. now when I turn on the head lights they go off. almost like there working in reverse. then again I could be crazy? so get this. my hazards only work when the hazard switch is in and the left turn signal is activated. Iv'e walked out to my jeep 4x now to get this straight.

 

it sound like maybe the pos. line is grounded somewhere. try your continuity check on the v.o.m. to the ground to see. it's a guess. good luck
