I wanted to see if anyone knows if parts from the lighting motor will bolt onto my 351? I have a 1995 Bronco XLT and was flipping through the haynes book and was wondering if I can get the intake and other lightning parts to give me some more power.. Anyone know?

Also.. I have asked in the past but does anyone know where to get the Ford dealership repair books? Not just something that covers a few years like chiltons and haynes? My buddy bought his girlfriend a HUGE repair book for her Jeep and it's specifically just for her year and model and is VERY detailed. Can I get that for my truck?

You would basically need a Lightning donor because you would need the engine and computer, among other things. I would throw a Kenne Bell blower on there and get a "lightning eater" sticker, personally

You can get single year model FORD truck factory manuals on CD on eBay very cheap... they are the ones produced for FORD by Helm Inc, so it oughta be good stuff

The heads are the main thing that makes a Lightning have more power.

Get a good set of aluminum heads like Edelbrock or Trick Flow twisted wedges and you will have better efficiency and more power than a lightning (93-95 lightning). You will have to get a computer chip burnt to support the mods.

To answer your question- yes everything on a lightning will bolt on to your Bronco.

What parts that you know will bolt from the lightning to my 351? I dont want to mess around with the computer too much because I still have to smog the stupid thing. I am working on getting a address so the DMV wont make me smog my truck but until then I just want more power. I know they share the same motor but what makes the lightning 351 different than my 351?

Yes, I would agree, it all should bolt on, and the heads, specifically valves seem to have a slightly different spec. as does the cam.

and that would make sense seeing as my book shows:

for the 1995 351 "H" motor:

[email protected] RPM horsies
[email protected] RPM torque, cept. cali., 330

lightning "R" motor:
[email protected]
[email protected]

if you take your truck off road, I would not suggest the expense of these mods, unless you are desert running.

IMO, $$ would be better spent on K&N, exhaust, good tune up to include cap/rotor, plugs/wires,coil, perhaps dual electric fans, and roller rockers as a simple "internal" upgrade. And of course proper gearing. You keep your trucks low RPM power profile, and get more power and MPG's at the same time.

Well you have to mess with the computer if you want it to work. If you do anything more than exhaust upgrades you are going to have to get mods done to your computer or you will not get anything out of it. If done right it will still be smog legal.

Anything off a lightning will bolt to yours. The main difference is the heads. Yes the lightning has a different cam, lower compression pistons, different intake, different computer. But with a better set of heads and a computer chip you will have more power than a Lightning.

Well so far I have put the K&N filter system, a flowmaster exaust cat back system, throttle body spacer and thats all so far. I am planing to out Bosch Platnum 4 plugs, better wires and a different ignition... I just wanted to see if I could put some lightning power in mt. But I mainly want to do trails, rocks, some mud and just keep up with all the little Jeeps. So I guess I will just add some more little things and be happy. The fan is big on my kist to replace.
