Lift Alignment Question / Rear end stick\'n out to passenger side.

Question about my lift...
I installed a SkyJacker coil spacer lift and 32in MTR's on my 02 TJ, and now the rear end sticks out to the passenger side about an inch more than the front end. Is this normal, did I jack something up during the install?? Anyone have this same occurance/problem??

I think that is what the adjustable track bars are for. I don't have any experience with them though.

Coils springs scare me.

get the ADJ. trackbar for the rear and it will be all good...........it happens with those damn coil thingy new jeeps

you should notice that the front is out a lil' bit also.....you can get an adj. trackbar for that to if you want..

Tera flex also makes a drop bracket for the rear track bar that might be alot less money which is also solves this problem. and you may be able to redrill the mounting bracket for the track bar which is what i did on the front of my TJ. I used the drop bracket on the rear.

Mine shifted that amount when I put in my coil spacers, also.
I used the "I don't care" method of correcting it.

I don't think it's enough to be a problem. It hasn't been yet, at least.

Cool, thanks for the help everyone! I'll check out the track bars and TeraFlex parts. Glad to hear I didn't mess something up. Someday I will replace the stock springs and get it up in the air some more, but for now, it does good as my daily driver.

OT - Here's a pic of the last trail ride I went on at Kansas Rocks - http://www.ksrockspark.com -. Nice trails, very tight and twisty, few water crossings...etc. Rock garden was fun to mess around on. Only cleared the middle section though, not enough clearence to clear the larger rocks. Good times!

Ya, I have been using that same "I don't care" method, but now my front right tire is wear'n different and faster than the rest. Don't know if it is due to the lift...etc. I am due for a rotation, so I'll give that a try and see what happens to the next front right.

Hey Wes, I see you live in Blue Springs. I live in Independence, just moved here from South KC. You should come out with us sometime, if I get my junk back together soon.

Should only be another week, maybe two and it'll be going again. We ususally go down to deepwater (at clinton lake) but are up for something new if you have another place. Drop me line if you want to do some wheeling.

Ever see a lifted Jeep look like it's going sideways as it's going down the road? Usually caused by not finishing the lifting job.

Higher the lift, the track bar, or Panhard becomes shorter, pulling the axle to the side. That not only offsets the axle, but can cause "Bump Steer." That calls for an adjustable one - and adjusting it right.

Get a good alignment shop - one that knows what they are doing - ya gotta shop around - to do a 4 wheel alignment. They use instruments on ALL 4 WHEELS AT THE SAME TIME to check not only caster/camber/toe, but offset, tracking, thrust angle, skew etc.
Some shops cheat, they do one end at a time - that won't do the job.

You can do it fairly well yourself with a friend. Just measure the distance between axle ends to assure they are parallel - be fussy - within 1/8 inch. And make sure both axles are centered in the body. Takes some crawling around with a tape, but well worth it.
Mesure both front to rear, then "X" measurements.
Sure makes a huge difference in handling.
The rear axle needs to be exactly centered behind the front one, and parallel.

Easier said than done!
