i noticed all the KJ bashing around here.....

Im just curious....Who cares?

so what if Jeep made an IFS....if you dont like it, dont buy it! if they dont sell, it will send a message to DC more than any talk of flicking off KJ drivers.

i think some people on this bourd need to grow up....do you go around flicking off Hyundai Santa Fe owners because they dont do anytihng off-road? Do you think Chevy PU owners are insulted that thier beloved chevy dares to manufature a death trap like the Tracker?

anyway....cry me a river...build a bridge...get over it....

start bitching when they screwing with the SWB jeeps...i know i will

just my opinion.

I think we all know that no one driving a Liberty is going to get "the bird" just because of what he/she drives. Why should we care about the Liberty?....Well, we should bitch about it now BEFORE they start messing with the SWB Jeeps, because if we wait it could be too late. Take your example the Chevy's......They went to IFS....no one bitched at the time because MOST Chevy truck guys did not off-road the truck. But now, a LOT of the IFS are getting straight axles conversions. I don't want to have to do any straight axle conversion on my future Jeep, so YES, I WILL bitch now. Although I really don't care who buys them, I just wish no one would. Thanks!

Here's a good one. This all reminds me of the local mudhole near here. 350 drunken ******** with 42" Swampers this, Big-block that, & a yardsticks of lift. Kinda of letting they're vehicles be extensions of their tiny "brains", so to speak. Half skeered to try the big holes, the other half stuck trying to get NEAR the hole. Along comes a truck willing to try also. A '83-'84 Dodge Ram (Mini truck, frontend looks like a Plymouth Arrow), 4cyl., IFS and running gas station snow&Muds. Oh, hear the laughter from the peanut gallery, and the slander flow towards the little trucks owner. See the little truck not only go thru the hole, but throw it in reverse and BACK thru the hole. Watch the jaws drop, everyone RACE to give the Rams driver a brew and be the one to boast "I knew him first!". Listen to the story of a truck bought at a "yard sale" for $100, given a tune-up, set of tires, and welded diffs and instantly OUT WHEEL every 4X4 in 3 counties! It's True, It's True!
Which brings to the moral of the story./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif
Why is everyone so hellbent on acting 12 years old toward Liberty owners? OK, they're definitely the "poser" poster child, but aside from that/wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif? How many of you macho men have actually driven one? (Point #1/wwwthreads_images/icons/shocked.gif) Do you even know someone that has driven one? (Point #2, thought so). AND I'm sure nobody here drives, say..., a bone STOCK YJ, TJ, or CJ (you know, with the 215R78-15 punkboy street tires), but still loves it for the type of "offroading" they do? (Point #3, see where this is going?)
It's time to embrace the drivers that want to wheel (ie, support & befriend) and be civil to drivers that bought the best vehicle within their means JUST to haul the kids & groceries. They might remember the jeers and "salutes" someday when a Liberty is the thing between you and 20 miles of BAD hiking to the NAPA for ujoints. Forget this kindergarten crap and move FORWARD!

So true Dave, and very well said.

Since 95% of them aren't wheeled, and are used as (oh my word, not THEM!) "grocery getters", and since about 50% of the 5% that does wheel them could care less, you honestly think D/C is going to CARE a HOOT about your opinion?

I agree with Greg, bitch when it comes time to bitch. If the TJ goes IFS, simply don't buy it. Most people bitched when the TJ came out as coil sprung, most people bitched when the YJ came out with square headlights, most people bitched when the CJ's no longer came with the V-8, and most of the time people just bitched to have something to bitch about.

Let me pose this question. Anyone on this BBS ACTUALLY driven a KJ? Even for a test ride? If not then quit your bitching.

I don't think there's the threat of going IFS in a TJ either. But the TJ may also not be around for much longer. Who knows, they may bring out the QJ. Or the LJ. Hell, they could even release a BJ(pardon the pun). And that could have IFS.

I'm actually quite scared of what's to come of the TJ. The look has been around since WWII. It's due for a redesign in many peoples eyes in the auto world. But then again, it's the ultimate 4x4, with the ultimate look and versitility.

So I'm at a crossroad when it comes to thinking of what DC will do. I say, if they want to compete with some other SUV class, build another model. That way the TJ can remain in the same class it's in now, one ALL TO ITSELF!

But face it, if they did convert the TJ, or replace the TJ with something else, and did put IFS in it, it would sell. That fact is true. You know it. I know it. DC knows it. The little tape worm in your dogs ass even knows it. But most Americans don't give a flying donkey d!ck about what's under the front. Hell, most don't even know what IFS stands for or that there is something up front besides the motor or headlights.

The KJ was just a matter of time. The Cherokee was a GREAT 4x4/SUV that will forever hold it's place as an awesome Jeep, and awesome vehicle, but cost DC too much money because other's were cheaper and better riding. And that's what most look for.

As far as people bitching too much about the KJ, I agree with whomever it was that said it(the name slips my mind). We'd better start bitching now before they touch our beloved SWB Jeep! Because that will be a COLD ass day in hell when/if they do.

Now repeat after me...

"We love you DC. Screw up any Jeep you want. Change them all to FWD if you want. Only offer them in bright pink or dark green. Make them look like a Pontiac Aztec. Do whatever you want. But realize, if you touch the SWB Jeep, in any major way, you will die. No if's, and's, or butt's."

I think there is an underlying reason behind all the bitching. It's not b/c we care about Liberty's or their drivers. It's a fear factor. We are a small group of devout Jeepers - growing, but not as fast as the main stream SUV drivers. We see what's happening to Jeep, and there's not much we can do about it. The only way to get the point across is if the Liberty didn't sell. But the vast majority of people are clueless to the technical aspects of off-road prowess, and couldn't care less anyway - they just want their SUV. So they'll buy Liberty's, DC will see them selling, and think they've done a good thing. That's why we bitch at the Liberty's - for the abomination that they are. And that's why we bitch at the owners - for promoting it.

Who needs a road...if there's a perfectly good JEEP trail somewhere else!?

I was at Camp Jeep this past weekend (seemed more like Camp Liberty this year), on Saturday
night they had a concert to close the weekend. There were a bunch of DC executives talking before
the concert, kind of like a pep rally/propaganda thing. One of the executives was trying to get the
crowd all pumped up, but then he made the mistake of asking what everyone thought of the new
Liberty, there was almost complete silence. I think that sent a pretty good message of what we
thought about it. He quickly ended his speach and went on to something else.

I have actually driven a liberty. I am the manufacturing engineer on a component for it. The local dealer brought one to the plant for us to check out. I liked the 3.7L, it's not a v-8, but it runs well. It doesn't ride too bad either. I hope I don't get flamed, but I'm considering buying one to pull a camper with , (5000 lb tow rating), because my tj struggles with a pop up. I wouldn't get rid of the tj, I would make the wife drive the liberty. She would be very pleased to own a four wheel drive jeep that the kids and the groceries would fit in, and still be able to tackle some snow drifts. My .02!

If your kidneys don't hurt, it's not a real Jeep!
