What is the largest gas tank that will fit under a CJ7? I know 4wd Hardware makes a 22 gallon tank. Does anyone make a larger tank such as a 30 gallon tank and where can I get it? Thanks.

Tim, I just got a tank from Aero. I learned about it on the jeepster page.It holds 26 gals.I think it was in the low $300's with the big skid plate. If you need more let me know...

Does anyone know of a web site that have a write up about replacing the gas tank or of any companies that make oversize gas tanks? I know it isn't that hard and I can do it without directions, but I thought it might help. Thanks.

After some research I found that I could get a custom 30 gallon but it requiered that I reroute my exhaust so instead I went with a 22 gallon tank from Four Wheel Drive Hardware. It is easy to switch tanks. The worst thing is that I decided to replace the fuel line also and it took some time to bend my own and route it where I wanted it.

Would you consider having two gas tanks. I came across a website where a guy put two tanks on his Jeep. If I find a cheap tank at a swap meet or something I would consider doing this because I hate tanking up every 100 miles. Just puttin' out an idea.

I have a '79 with a squarish metal tank and an '85 with a odd shaped plastic tank with a coated skid plate. Any idea how many gallons these stock tanks are? Thanks.

The stock metal tanks hold 15 gallons, the plastic tanks hold 20 gallons.
