Not like I have the money so I'll definitely have to get a loan. Went on
ebay looking for old Camaros and found this one last night and bidded on it.
Nobody even tried to snipe me on it. It's a red 67 Camaro Convertable SS.
Got it for $9500 and I know I could easily sell it for more. It's 100% rust
free. Now I just have to get it here!

No wonder you got it so cheap...it's sportin' a 396!/wwwthreads_images/icons/shocked.gif

Do all the little work it needs...paint it, find the correct drivetrain, and sell it for $18k. /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

How you gonna haul it back from New York?

Those are VERY COOL.
I am sure you know this but, the ONLY way to know how the car was originaly eguipt is to run the Vin #
There is more SS and Z28 camaros registered, then GM ever manufacturered /wwwthreads_images/icons/shocked.gif
Correct me if I am wrong but shoulded that be a 327 !
And I am sure you know, MATCHING numbers mean EVERYTHING in the world of classics.
Good luck, if it truely is a "factory SS convertable", then YOU SCORED!!!

That's one of the other things that stuck me as odd...should need a 327 instead of a 350. It's still an incredibly clean car...finding a 1st gen Camaro without fender rust and the dreaded C-pillar crack is tough.

It must also have disk brakes to be a SS.
Having them does not "PROVE" it is a SS, but Drums would definetly Prove it's not, Like I said there is ALOT of clones and imposters. also I am not real sure about that P4 code being a SS, I used to be very into 67-69 camaros and I am not sure that is the code, the United States Camaro Club can tell you what EVERY digit of the Vin means including every option. Looks like they had a name change but here you go http://www.indycamaro.com/clubinfo.html
By the way, alot of the convertables were straight six, 3 speeds /wwwthreads_images/icons/blush.gif They would have drums also

Yeah, I would think a 327 would be the original motor. I'll have to find more details. For now, I'll be driving it how it is. I may even swap a 454 (Got plenty of parts!). If I got to sell it, then I'll be putting the original motor and tranny in.

Not sure how I'm getting it from NY to Denver but the seller has some kind of deal with a transporter. We'll see.

I have bought and sold over 100 cars in my life, Its what I used to do for a living (self employed) most of these cars were early american Muscle cars mostly chevelles, camaros, el caminos, goats, roadrunners, gtx, amx, you get the idea! (note the lack of ford products/wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif)
Anyway I Know what to look for and what a collector will look for, I also know to look at any classic as a sceptic, Unfortunatly you must look for why it is wrong, as well as what makes it right. Some times the people selling honestly believe they have a 1967 Z28 with an automatic and AC, it's what they believed when they bought it, and have never questioned it. Emblems and spoilers are easily added to any car.
SORRY if I cam across as negative I didnt mean to rain on anyones day /wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif
Know matter how this car started out, it is at the very least a 67 convertable which is still a VERY COOL car, and Very collectable!
But to get $45k or whatever that ridiculas NADA price was the car would have to be "MINT" !!!
meaning "NOTHING restored", all "original EVERYTHING" right down to the carpet/wwwthreads_images/icons/blush.gif

I;m not the biggest on Camaros but I do know a good deal about Chevelles. I am pretty sure the Chevelle SS could have a 350 so I would imagine if I am correct the Camaro SS could have a 350... maybe

I should just take Dan (Scooby) with me and do a road trip to NY! Yeah, I'm also skeptical of this car but even if it isn't, I think it's an ok deal. The non SS convt. models are selling for $15k or more around here. I would never pay over $20k for one no matter how original it was. I was actually looking for something pro-street and already modified but this caught my eye with the rag top.

Anyone know of a good transportation company that doesn't want my arm and left testical to haul it to Denver?

Speaking of...I found a Charger out in Loveland. I may be renting a tow dolly and driving out there in a week or two if it's still for sale. /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

you guys like Chargers??? well it just so happens that we have a '68 Charger R/T 440 sitting in the driveway /wwwthreads_images/icons/cool.gif its the project we haven't started /wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif anyway, it was dad's car in high school....then my uncle drove it while he was in high school...now it back in dad's hands. we have the title, we just need to finish transferring it over to dad instead of grandpa.

we'll either fix it, or sell it.....as it is, my money usually goes to my truck...dad's goes to his ram and the old RC...the poor charger is left out of the distribution line /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif
