i am looking to buy a jeepster and have a few that i am looking at. i know of about five in my area that are for sale. i am basically interested in two of them. one is a 71 with the v6 and a t-18 tranny. the other is a 73 with a cj grill and hood and a rebuilt 232 and a t90. the problem that i am having is choosing. the 71 has a factory scooped hood with a tach but needs some engine work. the bodies are both pretty good and the floors are both clean. what should i do? i use to have a 67 convertible and now want to purchase another jeepster. any help or info on what would be better is appreciated. BTW i am not too worried about the engine because i have a 283 v8 that i am thinking of putting in either one if the engine turns out to be shot.

Factory hood scoop with tach? Is it white? Is it a Hurst? If so, buy that one quick. Other than that, the 72 is easier to fit a v-8 into. I actually have a set of MORE mounts modified to make a chev v-8 a bolt in, I'll be selling them. 5 in your area, huh? Fill out your profile so we know where these are!!!

Ya, like RQ said, cause if it is a Hurst and you don't want it I'm sure theres at least a half dozen other people here would be interested. 5 Jeepsters in your area and ones a Hurst? Pretty sure your not from my neck of the woods

I am pretty sure that the one with the hood scoop and tach is not a hurst just because it doesn't have the hurst badges on the side and from what i have heard they didn't come with a t-18. i am in salt lake and both were brought it from out of state (no salt) and have been sitting for a while. If i did get the one with the hood scoop and tach i will need to find a scoop because this one is gone but the tach is still there. the owner thinks he may still have the scoop but he isn't really sure.

Well, at least the hood came from a Hurst as no other Jeepster had the scoop/tach... as an option or otherwise. Transmissions can be changed, and many people with Hursts are missing one if not all Hurst emblems. Just food for thought. Your best bet would be to see if it has the Special Sales Order Tag on the firewall above the battery. Does it have red and blue rally stripes?

Check out our website at http://www.hurstjeepster.com and email me if you have any questions.

it doesn't have the stripes but the hood i was told was the original. i will try to get some pictures of it if you guys can help me with it. the guy lives a couple of blocks away from me. what would be on the firewall that i could identify it if it is a hurst?

A Jeep tag listing a Special Sales Order Number. Some have fallen off over the years though. If you want to email me your VIN and Build date from the tag inside the drivers door, that might help as well.

If it's missing all the emblems, the special order tag, and the tranny has been changed, it's not really all that different from a regular Jeepster anymore other than the hood. I certainly wouldn't spend any more $$ than you thought it was worth before the Hurst questions came up.
