Hey Jeff, nice set up. Can you give me some specs on it? Specifically, what size tires and what did you have to do to get them under there. Thanks.

G
How much fender well cutting did you do? Are those rims your daily drivers?

Nice rig!/wwwthreads_images/icons/cool.gif

That settles it... I'm grinding off my welded on u-bolt skid plates and removing the freaking bump-stop extenders...

Its an 89 YJ:
DRIVE TRAIN: 4.0 HO(95),NP435(ford truck),NP 231 w 4:1 Tera Low(2WD low kit and Currie Slip Shaft elim.),(120:1 ratio at the hubs in 1st gear low range). Ford 8.8 rear axle with disc brakes(from a 95 explorer) with a Detroit and 4.56 gears,D30 front with Warn hub kit, high strenth inner and outer axles,(it will be swapped very soon for a D44 if I cant find a combo of components to keep it from breaking), and an ARB. 35x12.5 15 Swamper TSLs on King Racing Bead Locks(its only used around town by Girlfreind) I trailer it long distance. 302 SVO Mustang motor will be swapped in next winter.
SUSPENSION: SOA Front is stock springs with an Add-A-Leaf, shackle reverse, and 33" R5000s(using Ford F250 shock Towers),SOA Rear is 2 1/2" leafs, with 1 1/4" extended shackles and 33" R9000s,(placed on a 45 deg angle to allow for full 14" travel per side and to relocate the shock mounts out from under the axle)(see picture,Hey this scanner thing is great). I havent done any fender trimming,in fact there are Rock lights stuffed up inside all the fender wells, and I dont hit them, both trailing edges for the front and rear wells need trimming though,( they are just kinda bent into place now),Although the front barely hits with 2" of extra wheel base provided by the shackle reverse. Both drive shafts need to be extended to allow for the long travel and I use CV Joints front and rear, the T Case is lowered 1 1/4" and I rotated the front axle 1 deg(pinion upward) when setting the SOA perches.
OTHER ITEMS: Include a full roll cage(cost about $150 and took about 8 hrs,its a great project for anyone who can weld),ARB compressor and a CO2 Power Tank(both are interconnected in case of eithers failure).Gallxy 11 meter radio(with opened clarifier),and a 500 amp Texas Ranger linear amp,( it can get a signal out of most canyons).Warn X8000i, Tuffy boxes for storage,Custom bumpers and reciver hithes both ends and sides(the side hook up points are very handy),Dual Optima batteries nad 140 amp alternator, portable welder,11 trail and rock lights where needed and Sony stereo and Sound Stream amp.
Jeepchick(shes a great spotter and co driver),and I use it on as many trails as we can get to out West(currently working in Reno,NV). We go out by ourselves a lot so we have to be prepared.
Some of the trails weve done:Rubicon, Fordyce, Dusi Ershim, THE HAMMER TRAILS are our favorite though.
Thanks for the Compliments,
Jeff

Hey, H8Monday, perhaps you'd remember me as StraightSix from the old ford board...First you've got to have a more modified truck than me. Now you've got to have a more modified jeep than me. Jeez...I guess the construction business is good, eh?

Trying to come up with a witty line to end all of my posts...
Yeah, The company I work for takes very good care of me. I almost went to another company out of LA about a year ago, and they really had to step up to the plate to keep me(ie: 4 weeks a year vacation,% based bonuses, unlimited air travel and such). Its not a Job for everyone though I move a lot, only see my girls every few weeks, put in 60 hr work weeks(when busy) and dont really have a home anymore, except for a 34 ft sailboat docked in Long Beach,Ca.(and thats up for sale). I have been on the road for 4 years building for Circuit City,Safeway,Toys-R-US and so on. Its like evrything though there are good and bad, but I dont dwell on the bad. And I have met some great people in all of my traveling. I still have my Supercharged 460 Ford F250,but Im not racing it anymore(it did have a gloriouse career though),now its the Tow Rig. Im trying to get the jeep in shape,(you might notice most of my modifications are using Ford truck parts) to compete in the Rock Crawling Championship Series by next year. I still havent heard if Ive been excepted to compete at Sledge Hammer this year. Good to hear from ya,
Later,
Jeff
