I got it too. Have been hearing about the ORC Rent a SUV deal for a while. After reading the Jeep Junkies e-mail I finally read the offending article. May well agree with Jeep Junkies. I have a link on my web site to Off-Road. Will probably remove it, and will probably voice my displeasure with ORC for running it in the first place. Very BAD judgement, IMO.

I got the same email and just to inform you all who aren't on any of the Jeep mailing lists a lot of people from the mailing lists voiced there concern to ORC staff and all that they got back was ridiculous letters that were flat out rude.

Many of the people on the mailing lists vowed never to visit ORC again and ORC's response was "we'll miss you" and something to the effect of "we have too much information on our website for you not to come back"

Last week ORC also stated that they would address the whole issue in the upcoming March issue.......

I personally am pretty fed up with ORC and I think that the rental vehicle article is horrible and can't even understand why they would post it.

One more thing, emails and letters have been sent to SEVERAL of the ORC advertisers informing them of the article and some advertisers have stated that they are no longer advertising with ORC......and ONE more thing.....

Tread lightly has asked(according to an email from the Tread Lightly organization)ORC to remove the Tread Lightly! logo and links from the ORC site.

We've been talking about this on our club page and on the jeepster page. I wasn't too happy about the post either but seriously .... how many of us jeep junkies can actually stay away from the ORC site? I'm on here every night to see what new things I can do to my jeepster. Its like a drug addict trying to stay away from drugs when they're just a click away.

I'm getting tired of hearing about this article. The guys on the Toy board have been talking about this and how they would improve a BBS. Bill is right with the anallogy to drugs. It is tough staying away from this site. I know that the article is suppose to be fictional, but a lot of guys are saying that the pictures prove that is it not(eventhough none of them show damage). I think everyone needs a peace teaty with ORC until March when they are suppose to run a article explaining themselves. Then if you don't like what they say you can then leave.

Tim and Bill....both valid points BUT ORC did explain themselves and they were quite arrogant about it....I'm not saying I never come here anymore cause this BBS is by far my favorite(just because of the various personalities) BUT the ORC staffers are very arrogant and with new sites poppin up left and right I can definitely avoid this site for everything(except this BBS)......right now they don't even have a Jeep editor so what is keeping my interest??

I have found that jeepwire.com is a much better source of information and trust me if you could read some of the responses sent out by the ORC staffers you would absolutely despise this site.......

Yes I am sick of hearing about the article too, but c'mon how hard do we work to protect the land that we use and then one of the biggest off-road sites on the net runs an article like this?? Spoof or not its stupid, I didn't find it funny and neither did anyone else I talked to. Hey I will give them a chance to explain themselves in March no problem, BUT from what they have said so far??? It aggravates the sh&% out of me.

And this isn't the first time that anyone has had problems with the ORC staff....why do you think half the staff left last year??? hmmmmm????

It is not ORC that has made this board what it is . It is the people ON this
board that made it what it is.
We cannot let it break us up. only we[us] would lose.

Chris do you think you could email me some of the responses by the ORC staffers or maybe post one or tell me where to find them. I would like to read some of the stuff that they wrote. I guess I was being a FOTD by trying to give ORC a second chance. You normally don't get a second chance. I was just trying to be nice. I have noticed that the Jeep page does SUCK. I will be checking out jeepwire. Thanks.

Tim go back in this forum like a week and one of the letters is already posted on this forum......I don't seem to have saved any of the emails

You guys should really join the newsgroups. This his been an enormous issue since last weekend. We have guys getting fired for disagreeing with ORC's stance on the article, you have entire groups & clubs boycotting ORC, you have Patrick Chicas being his typical rude self....what an ass that guy is!

Ive posted to this forum for 4 years... this is my very last post until they clean house of Patrick Chicas. Have fun guys. I hope to see some of you on the other forums.

www.jeepsunlimited.com is and has been my new home for the past few months.
