You may recall my posting concerning the "Jeep in a Crate" story/legend about a week ago. Well, my kids often look over my shoulder while I'm posting and they read all the responses to that post. They wanted me to have a Jeep in a crate for my very own. So they went down to the local hobby shop and bought me one! (Actually, it is a 1:35 scale plastic model of a Willys MB). They bought me the glue, paint and modeler's knife to put it together. I haven't built such models since I was a kid myself but I've been working on it for the past two evenings./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

Yes, Dave, I'll remember to ground the engine/tranny, chassis and electrical groups together!!/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif I'll bet your teachers just loved having you in class, Jim. One time through, and you remember it forever./wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gifI was wayyy too young....like about six....when the neighbor guys got the Jeep in a crate, but I remember going over there and there were wood pieces and dark brown wax paper.....or some such packing......all over, and the Cummins Bros were busy installing the steering wheel......actually it probably was the whole steering column into the dash bracket.... I was disappointed because I thought we would ride in the Jeep, but it was too soon./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gifI NEVER got to ride in their Jeep./wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif

I wonder if those Cummins brothers neighbors of yours were related to the diesel engine manufacturers from Stamford, Conn.? /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif I doubt it, these guys farmed almonds till about 1951 or 52 and then sold the ranch to someone else. By that time, Cummins engine Co was pretty big stuff./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif
