I've seen recent advertisments for the Wrangler, introducing it as the "World's Off Road ICON."

Does anyone else think Chrysler is preparing the market to receive the new ICON; and it will go into production soon?

Good Jeepin'

Larry;
I do hope all is well with you up in the land of many lakes. I have to agree with you, there is no doubt that something is up. The newly opened jeep plant in Toledo is in the final stages of building a secret/yet to be announced prototypes of the both the wrangler and cherokee. Word is that the latter, will no longer keep the name cherokee nor any physical exterior resemblance. Real production for dealer distribution is another six weeks away I am told (bearing no production/supplier problems) Also, 2001 or 2002 can't remember (age is showing again :-( here) that the tried and true 4.0L in-line six, will be deeped sixed. Always good to read your posts Mr. Larry. Have you had time to update/add to your own jeep web site lately? Did you get the new tub on yet?

Hello Larry,
Did you see the pix and info about the 2002 Wrangler VJ. If not, do a search on this BBS for "VJ". I'm useing the picture as wallpaper. I'm looking forward to seeing on in real life. 200 hp V-6 Hemi, 6 speed tranny, modular hardtop(who would need a softtop), independent suspension(I'll hold judgement on that one) all add up to a pretty cool package. Check it out.

Uh. . .Raduckal, I tried the search and came up blank. Maybe you could send me the pic, or post it here or something?

Inquiring minds want to know.

45-auto:This should be what you're looking for--http://www.car-truck.com/chryed/buzz/b032800.htm. Be sure to surf this site as there is a lot of futuristic info on other Jeeps and other vehicles.

Leve--Sorry I didn't make it up last month. I ended up not even going to the wedding. Maybe sometime this summer I will be up in the area, and if I am, I will let you know. I hope to visit my friend on Red Cedar Lake soon, so I might be in the vicinity. Hope all is well with your Jeep.

Have a good time,
Chase

I hope that they arent going to dump the traditional CJ,YJ,TJ style Jeeps, for that contraption. That would appear to me to be trying to compete with the Suzuki Vehicross and other inner city yuppie SUVs. YUUUUkkkk, I hope I dont have nightmares tonight.

I'm with Jeff, that thing looks like its made to compete with the Rav-4 type suvs, I don't particularly care for the Modular Hard tops either, When I take the top Off I like it to be OFF, free flowing. The Jeeps look like they an updated version of Jurassic Park ones.

Like I said earlier in the thread: ain't gonna replace my CJ.

But I bet they lose a lot of jeep customers if that top won't come off.

Of course, they'll pick up a lot of Rav4 types. OHMIGAWD! Those people will be able to claim they're us!

We must stop this goddamn travesty!

God help us if jeeps are given IFS over solid axle. Looks like the yuppie buying power is gonna F$%# up the chance to have the TJ really come into its own. I will NEVER buy a jeep that doesn't have a solid axle. I know that there are some Toyotas out there with IFS that can go over some rocks but I still haven't seen an IFS rig that can keep up with an equally built solid axle in the rocks.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif And another thing.........for reasons that I may never be able to completely understand, our Grand Cherokee with "true" axles goes thru snow A LOT better than the yuppie rides do.....A LOT...and I just can't quite figger it out/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif Long live "true" axles!!!/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

It's not that bad, looks like a cross between a Zuki & Jeep. I won't even mind it being IFS all the way around as long as someone makes a conversion for solid axles. Remember, anything stock sucks, it all needs to be built to perform well for what we're doing.
