I am trying to find out how to hook up the stock oil and volt gauges in a 1977 cj-7 to a 1988 2.8 V-6. The oil pressure gauge has 2 wires, as does the volt meter. I need either a schematic or a really detailed explanation. please help!......

Also, I need 2 Rear fender flares for the CJ-7. i have the 2 fronts, but the backs are gone (they're black flexible [plastic?] they use screws and little rectangular retainers to hold them in place) i dont know if the are stock or what......

The voltage gauge is a piece of cake - just connect it to a key-on voltage source and ground the other end. Done. /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

The oil pressure gauge uses a sender. Take the one out of the Jeep engine, and it somehow needs to screw into where it is on the v-6. It is likely 1/8 NPT, or 1/4 NPT on the threads, unless the new stuff is metric, or something similarly goofy. /wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif You may need some adapters.

I think that is the easiest way to go.

Good luck

Wow, somebody else on this forum has a 2.8 besides me!!!!!/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif
My dash voltmeter connects to the main buss panel under the driver's side on my Cherokee. The oil pressure gauge connects to the oil sender near the oil filter. I think they're 1/4' threads to connect the sender to the engine.

Good Luck! /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

One wire (usually yellow or red) on the guage is for ignition on power, usually marked "I". The sender wire (usually purple) goes to the terminal marked"S". The ground (black) goes to "G". The 12 wire to the volt guage usually is yellow. Check with a voltmeter or a test light. Crossing the power and sender wires on the guage will destroy the guage. Good luck!
