NHTSA Recall No. 09V119000: Chrysler is recalling 42,469 MY 2002-2003 Jeep Liberty vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in salt belt states of Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District Of Columbia. The front suspension upper control arm ball joint may experience a loss of lubrication which could lead to corrosion, accelerated wear, and possible separation while driving.

NHTSA Recall No. 09V118000: Chrysler is recalling 4,336 MY 2009 Dodge Journey, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Commander and Wrangler vehicles. Wiring may be reversed on the steering column control module driver airbag squib connector.

NHTSA Recall No. 09V117000: Chrysler is recalling 102,354 MY 2001-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles with heated seats and with Chrysler recall no. 06V-197 completed (03-04 MY) or seat heater elements service replacement (01-02 MY). The front seat electric heater elements could overheat.

good thing this was posted because i was about to buy a second hand 2002 jeep liberty. i dont wanna buy something that has a recall issue in the past. well it will be better to be safe than sorry in the end. anyway thanks. lucky to be searching first before buying anything. i will think of it carefully. :grin: sorry for digging this one. the price of auto parts also makes me nod my head

Actually, a recall does not mean that there IS a problem with a given used vehicle, just means there may be or may have been, and all you need to do is look the vehicle over carefully before purchase. Ball joints are replaceable, and if they have put out a notice, most likely they have a fix for the given issue. I have a fellow employee where I work who has a Liberty, and they LOVE it. Personaly I don't care for them because of the IFS, but thats a personal choice. Don't pass on sumtin just because of a recall notice, u might be passing on the best vehicle for you. Just my .99 (inflation you know)
