I\'ve talked about it.....

But now I have taken the first huge step into walking the walk. I got an 89 Lincoln Mark V. I picked it up for 5 bills. It does need tranny work, but as you can see in the pictures the motor is plenty strong. Now i just have to find me a solid front axle and a Transfer case from a 720. Get ready for a whole slew of questions.

Re: I\'ve talked about it.....

I am all for doing it once as well, so if you would like to donate an Atlas II, I will accept. It's all for the Hardbody. The Frontier is keeping it's V6 until it's paid for. Right now the Frontier is in the shop getting a new rear main seal. Just in time, I have less than 3000 miles left on the powertrain warrenty. Ihope to have the Hardbody done in a year. It is pretty much going to be a frame up project.

Re: I\'ve talked about it.....

So you are going all out, engine, tranny, axles......... If you can find one I would get a divorced NP205, I don't know if a 720 case will have the strength to handle that engine. I an throwing in a 720 case as a 2nd in my truck, and it "should" be able to handle that.

Give us spome details (If you know them yet) What are you gonna run for susp?

A gas axe and Duct Tape is all you need

Re: I\'ve talked about it.....

Daytona is only 20 minutes from me. If you come down though the only way your going to see it is if you lend a hand hehehe. j/k. I am unsure of what suspension set up I am going with. I would like to follow in Anti-Crisp's set up using a Dana 44, but it is a matter of finding a good one at a good price. I have to measure an axle from the old Wagoneer's to see if that will work. I also need a tranny, I'm pretty sure it will be a C6. As for the T-case, This could be the very factor that forces what front axle to use. That is why I am thinking of the 720 case, it drops out in the middle and I believe it is gear driven. The first thing that is going to happen is the Hardbody is going to be stripped to the frame. I want it beefed up so it does not break when I least need it to. I will keep everyone updated as I go through it. Just please do not expect a 3 week project.

Re: I\'ve talked about it.....

The Atlas II is what comes between the Atlas and soon to be Atlas III.. hehehe, Sorry Dave you know to expect these kinds of things from me? :) Atlas is a serious kick-atlassss t-case made by advanced adapters. You know that company that sells parts which us cheese-head canadians can't afford.! :)

Re: I\'ve talked about it.....

I'm with Tim on the NP205, very versatile and parts are easy to come by. It's also very durable just like the NP435 which Wild Horses has a killer dual-case adapter kit for it and I don't mean the "Cold DUCK". Get the complete Creeper kit, it comes with drive shaft and everything you'll need, where as the "Duck" requires you to get all the extras over and above the adapter/t-case. It's also not nearly as strong.... [link]http://www.wildhorses4x4.com/33.asp[link]

Re: I\'ve talked about it.....

Another great thing about the 205 is you can get a doubler kit and connect a np203 and have 2 t-cases, plus you can twinstick the 205 for 2wd low

Re: I\'ve talked about it.....

Part 1: 86.5 Nissan Hardbody boduy & frame - Secured!
Part 2: 89 Lincoln Mark V 5.0 HO motor & trans - Secured!
Part 3: 80 Jeep Cherokee dana 44 front end - Secured!
Part 4: Transfer Case - Pending!

I am looking for that final part so the work can commence. I picked up the Cherokee (whole thing) for $200. I am almost done gathering all the parts, so then the fun can begin.

Re: I\'ve talked about it.....

I thought about it, but I figured since I am not going to hop up the motor any more and I do not plan on running anything bigger than a 35" tire, I should be ok. But if I break it or the rear end I plan on going to one ton stuff.

Re: I\'ve talked about it.....

Hi Gator ,
Most excellent choice on the cherokee axle. I also bought one for my winter beater and donor . The width is perfect and the steering looks easy to convert. I am using springs from a CJ since they are slightly shorter.Have you thought about a spring over install? Looks to me like lots of lift! What is your time frame on this? I might need tech help and will give where I can. Good luck...Tom

Re: I\'ve talked about it.....

Yes the spring over is happening at the same time as the SAS. I am going to use the Grand-ma Cherio-kee springs. As for time frame, let's just say I am not going to break any records. I will be happy if it is completed by this time next year.
