It\'s good to be back......

It has been a while since I've posted or even been online. I had broken my finger pretty badly just before Thanksgiving by accidently slamming the Cherokee's door on it and the large splint required put my right hand out of commission until just after Christmas. My son, who is in the Marines and stationed at Camp Pendelton, Ca., is scheduled to go to Iraq later this month so my wife and I have just returned home after visiting him for the better part of 2 weeks in the San Diego area.

No, I didn't blame the XJ for hurting me; it was my own carelessness that led to my compound fracture. Yes, it hurt like [email protected] The door locked after I had slammed it and I had to get the keys from my pocket to open the door to get my finger free. The ER doc said I was lucky; the natural tendency is usually to jerk the hand free and if I'd done that; I'd most likely would 've lost the finger completely.

I was very fortunate the finger has healed without surgery and the only possible permanent mark might be that my finger nail doesn't grow back right. So far, the nail has regrown to about half the size it was before and it seems to be growing in straight.

Hey Jim, good to see you back! You gotta watch those doors sometimes

I did that once with a moving engine pulley and a tune up...
Take care of that finger and send a big note of support to your son, it's never easy shipping out but there are those of us here who support OUR troops!

At least you still have it connected where it's supposed to be.

Wow, seriously, sorry to hear about your finger, glad ur back. I also used to post a while ago, but mostly I just haven't posted because I'm busy with school, all extremities still attached.

butcher has changed his mind about the XJ and is now putting it on a blazer frame with leafs front and back w/ rockwells and a V8.....

Going to a diner dansant my girl (wearing a nice dress) held herself on the B-pillar when someone else closed the door of the van (VW). Luckily it wasn't a Jeep, because her whole hand was stuck between the pillar and the door. She didn't even scratched anything. Seeing it happen I lost a liter of sweat.

I allready wondered where that proud pappa had been....

Closing a car door on their fingers, hand or arm isn't something I'd wish on anybody...I can tell you it really hurts......the first 5 minutes or so after I got my hand out of the door were spent running up and down my street holding my finger and belting out some real bad words several times. I was real easy to find by following the blood trail.

Thank you all for your kind words about my son (his name is Chris); I'm still very proud of him. A father cannot help but worry about his son going off to war but I'm in pretty good company....every one of our service men/women over there is somebody's child. I pray for them all.

I wouldn't worry about a satanist condemning you to hell...I'd worry when God does it. He is the real boss, you know.
