It\'s finally on all four

Well, i finally got my highsteer arms in and had my knuckles machined. So that left some more work to be done. I think i am going to pull the front axle back about 2". I still have to make the track bar and mount, and then the suspension will be done. All i will have left is to get the motor running. http://community.webshots.com/album/92454145AtMWAP

Sick dude, just plain sick. Now i dont remember the specs from your post a while back about this project, and couldnt tell from the pics, what axles are those, and whats the WMS to WMS measurement? Those 37's? And lastly, why bother pulling the axle back? For a purpose built rig I see only benifits from keeping it slightly forward. That is of course unless your steering needs to be back etc, etc, etc...

I envy you, that is awesome.

Re: It\'s finally on all four

I have to move the axle back a only a few inches. I did move it foward, just a little to much. I think with the wheels turned and at full stuff, the tires would proble wipe out the head lights right now. And i also need a little more room for te track bar mount. The axles are a 12 bolt and a 10 bolt. I forget how wide they are, but he front is real wide. I think i am going t put a 1" wheel spacer in the back to even it up a little. That will make the front about 2" wider on each side than the back. I already have a whole TPI set up with the computer to go in it, but i think after i get all the bugs worked out and see how it is holding up to the v-8. i am going to be putting another motor in it. I have a 450hp 383 stroker motor that was going into another car, but the car was sold instead. Its looking good so far. I don't think i am going to get a way with driving it around in Mass though. I am still going to try. I can see it now. Police officer walks up nect to me. Excuse me ser, what the $$$$ are you thinking.

Re: It\'s finally on all four

How happy have you been so far with your clayton long arms? Have you gotten a chance to wheel with them yet or are they part of this current project?

Im just trying to get opinions and what not. The closer I get to my lift, the less likely it seems that RE will actually be shipping there long arm kit.

Who did you get them from? Is clayton himself the only suppler, or does he wholesale them out to other vendors? How easy was he to deal with?

How was the install? How "interesting" was it doing that much welding on the unibody?

What are you thoughts on the overall sturdiness of the new crossmember and arms? Any other interesting tid bits of info bout this product you could pass along?

Thanks,

i can't comment on his long arms because i don't own them. i can however comment on his character because i've met and wheeled w/him in person. he's a great guy, i've even see him do installs at events during nightime. he did so many installs and repairs for people at camp, we went to sleep when his compressor stoped, and awoke when he crunk it back up the next morning. jeep'nhank can give you more advice, he knows plenty of people who have purchased and run clayton's long arm set ups

Re: It\'s finally on all four

I am still wondering the same thing on the air cleaner, I have not put the hood on in months. I got to get someone to help me to get it off the room. I put it up there when the thing was about a foot shorter.

I can not say enough about Clayton and his kits. I live close( about 45 mins) from his shop, so i went to check it out in person before i bought it. He is a great guy to deal with. You can look at some of my other picks in my sig to see some better close ups of it installed and not installed. The install was pretty easy. Line it up mark where the welds will be, take the cross member out and grind the paint off. Put it back, and weld it in. The unibody is not very thin where you have to weld. It is double thick. I welded it fairly hot. Welding everything in was a lot easier for me, because there was no drive train at the time to interfear.

I am trying to come up with a track bar, and track bar mount on the axle idea now. The pumkin it really directly in my way. After that, its not all that far from being done...
