Yeah, Aaron, its still the same old bbs, because its the same old software. Pat was going to test some new software elsewhere, but now it looks that there are some issues with the stuff he was going to test. Pretty frustrating, one minute its fine, next minute it takes 5 min. to load like you said. Check out the new bbs section to get up to speed on what is going on with the bbs software.

I know they had SQL up and running for a while, because I viewed the source for the pages...
(I'm computer stupid, but I know SQL when I see it...)

Was just wondering what happened to the new software, and the promised performance increase...
(lied to again!! I'm starting to feel like a big busted blonde in a singles bar on saturday night...)

Any ETA on the new upgrades, or has Pat finally admitted he's not up to the task all together?
How about taking that annoying ad for the new software off the top of the page, so it doesn't slow things down even more having to load it everytime?

From what little I understand about what is going on, they were supposed to use MySQL which supposedly is the thing to do for email hosting and integrate the bbs and maillist systems. But, for some reason Pat got unhappy with the software, so they are back to square one.

My guess is Pat got in way over his head, and didn't ask anyone for help...
He's real good at making excuses, but I've not seen him get the smallest things done yet.
What else can you expect out of a phone service manintance man that moonlights as an IT manager...
(We are talking about the same guy that can't fix a user name in two years here, and verbally abuses people when they try to help...)

I figure Pat's just not up to the job, and I'm just wondering when ORC is going to get someone that knows what they are doing?

I've seen several of his sites, and they all seem to integrate several platforms seamlessly.
If he can do that in Egypt, why can't Pat (or someone) get one simple bulletin board program to run?
(Pat is too busy giving people crap and telling people how much of a genius he is on email is my bet...)

Oh well, ORC will either fix it or they won't....
(and people will stop coming here because of the total lack of concern for the problem...)

Best thing that could happen is that the BBS would crash, and then ORC would HAVE to do something about the program...
Maybe a new program, (or just re-install the old one and not let Pat screw with it...)

this evening it has been very quick.. almost scary.. check that.. just when i went to post this, it went into cardiac arrest. i don't want to point fingers either. something is better than nothing.. and sometimes the squeaky wheel doesn't get the grease. it gets replaced.

They are using a box with Dual P3`s to power this BBS and it`s my guess too that he just doesn`t have a dog gone clue how to deal with it .

Pat Chicas, aka PJC owns this thing, he's the prez of Rubicon Media Group that owns ORC. He started ORC back in the mid 90s as a desert racing enthusiast site, just kinda grew from there.

Jeepzilla, that's exactly the impression I got from his emails...

I guess if he owns the joint, my membership will be pulled tomorow, but until then, I'm still going to give my opinion of being lied to...
How about we inform his sponsors that the BBS they pay to be on isn't working?
(Bet that gets my ticket punched!)

This BBS works fine for me and my cable connection. It's seems no slower at times than any other popular BBS.
So much drama...geeze!

No, it's very unpredictable! sometimes I have no problems then at other times it takes awhile. Guys you have to think about the # of forums and users on this BBS. We should expect it to bog down from time to time but man...sometimes I just click over to the POR BBS. Sorry I get tired of waiting after awhile. Something needs to change but I'm not going to call names or point fingers, just a simple collaboration from the majority of us should be good in getting changes made. So, somebody get the ball rolling on this.
