I swapped the Quadratrac transfer case for a Dana 300 and this moved the case back about 2-3 inches, hence I need a longer driveshaft. The one I have (from the qtrac) has a cv joint on the xfer case end, do I need this? I would just get this one lengthened but than I'd have to swap the yoke on the xfer case (and it's been impossible to get that thing off thus far). So can I just get a regular driveshaft of the correct length (39" running length)? Also, the rear d/s is about 20" running length, too short w/out a cv joint? TIA.

I guess the problem is that I'd have to pull the xfer case and replace the front yoke and that's gonna be a major PIA. I have been trying to get the yoke off of the qtrac's (I have two) with no luck for a month now. Used 4' breaker bar, PB Blaster, heat, Air impact gun, and can't even get them to budge. I can just buy a new CV joint style yoke but I figure it's gonna be the same problem getting the yoke off the Dana 300. So if I can find the correct length regular d/s I'll save my self that headache. Otherwise the double CV jointed d/s is fine, just figured it might not be needed for vibes since it is so long.

The CV is needed on the quadratrac because it is powered on the street. With the dana 300, your front driveshaft won't be turning on the street so you don't need the CV driveshaft.

Thanks WILL. Should of known you'd have the qtrac info. What's the difference btwn street/dirt with the qtrac? I would think you needed the CJ joint more in the dirt since it'd be working at more exteme angles. Just curious. I am kind of regretting ditching the Qtrac since we've been getting so much snow/ice recently. Oh well. Thanks.

At slower speeds (less than 30mph or so) the shaft is spinning slow enough to not cause noticable vibrations.
