This is exactly what I want. Man I wish you were closer to TN. I have an 1988 S4 13b 6 port motor with 130k on it. Pulled from a running gxl for a TII conversion. I pulled the motor, tranny, harness, and ecu in all one pull. Want to figure out exactly what I have to do to get this one in and running. Once running and bugs worked out I will pull the motor and rebuild it using RA seals. I ahve thought about using a 87-88 Turbo II flywheel so I can use the larger clutch as well. Also maybe going to a rtek ECU flashing to get a bit more hp and allow me to run 720cc injectors in the secondaries. That sure will bump the HP under wide open throttle when I want to pass those V-8 buggys on the straight run.
The trans cut down.... did a shop do that? If so do they have the specs still so I can send them a tranny?

Nope, I did it myself. I cut the tail housing with a sawzall. I cut it next to an existing rib. I used a file to finish it square. Then I made a steel plate to cover it and support the output bushing. I cut 6" out of the output shaft with a die grinder and made an interference fit sleeve to reconnect the halves. I ended up with .002" runout, better than it started with. I'll send you all of the pictures I have in a zip file.[ QUOTE ]
Did you have to lift the body? Are you using the rx7 engine harness? If so what/how did you trigger it on the samurai key switch?

No body lift. I had to cut a small opening next to the gas pedal to clear the starter. I used the RX7 harness, but with several modifications. In the RX, the coils are on their own harness, coming out of the drivers side of the dash. There were several extra wires in the main harness, that used to control a bunch of uneeded solenoids and such. I used them to run the coils. You'll need to be fairly comfortable with wiring harnesses and diagrams for this. It connects to a start signal, battery, etc. I also made all of the mounts, the air filter to air meter adaptor, radiator and oil cooler mounts, oil cooler lines, clutch master cylinder mounts, the exhaust, the header, the list goes on. It's no small task. I also made the rear axle truss, both bumpers and new seat brackets to support Miata seats and keep the floor from cracking. I figure it's about 1/3 Suzuki, 1/3 Mazda and 1/3 Joe.
