I have an impact wrench and onboard air with a tank. It's obvious that I can use it to unscrew stuff, but how do I know how tight to make things. For example, can I use it to put my lugnuts back on or will I break the studs. It has 3 settings (I think) and I have a regulator on my tank. Thanks.

You can definately use it on lug nuts. I put my lugs on with a large socket and bar, most of the time it takes a pretty good impact to remove them. I've broken studs with an impact before but usually only on old cars.

mostly I use mine to unscrew stuff...I use it to snug lug nuts, but always use the lug wrench to do the final job. Impact wrenches are a GREAT invention for those of us that hate to break knuckles on hard to undo stuff...
