FYI in the state of New Jersey there are no SELF SERVICE pumps in gas stations…. Hum.. in fact it is ILLEGAL to pump your own gas in New Jersey.. ever wonder WHY?

I filled up the JEEPSTER yesterday (illegal pumper!!!) and very proud of myself to not spill any… gotta have a delicate touch.. got a minor leak somewhere on the top of the tank when it is FULL to the top.. gotta pull the tank and check it out soon…. Anyway I was so happy with myself I drove off with the orig gas cap on the roof !!!!

?Anybody got a gas cap for sale?

PS The why must be STUPIDITY !!!

I work in Somerville, Newark and Pleasantville - it takes some getting used to when you live in a state where you've always pumped your own gas. I have some spare (non-locking caps) off of parsters. You're more than welcome to one if you E-mail me your address. I think you can still buy these new though.

Hey Bob, you gotta remember to throw the cap on the front seat while filling up, that way if you forget to put it back on it reminds you

BTW- I particiapte in that same illegal act quite often as well.

A few years ago I drove the Jeepster to the (AJC's) Club Oregon Raid. When the snot nosed kid came out to pump my gas, I said No Way!!, He said that's the law. I was surprised some states did that. You couldn't pay someone from So Cal to pump it, they just don't. Anyway I told him to gently put it in and not to jerk it down after it was in. Of course he did and split the fill tube. *^% Jerk. So I epoxy fixed it, but that pisses me off. What are they (other states) thinking? Some teenager, who probably doesn't even own a car, knows how to pump better than someone thats been driving longer than he is old? What gives with that?

i've got a few of those nos caps left if your interested they work on the 67-71 i get $25.00 but they are new
