In reply to:

My 350 > SM465 has a peaked top.
It fits the 4.3L>SM465 too.

So I doubt its a chevy bellhousing.

That's good since he wants to bolt it to a 4.2L.

I know it came off of a CJ with a 258, I just need to know if its the right one for the T18.

Yes I think that'll work. I'm sitting here looking at mine from a factory 258/T18 set-up. Aside from yours having 2 holes that mine doesn't have, they look identical. They are the 2 lowest holes on the tranny mating surface. I don't think those holes will come into play, there is nothing on the 18 down there to mate to.

What year of CJ did it come off of? And what tranny was in it? If it was a 3 speed it sould be the right one. (and it does look like it should work)
But we need more info.

All I can say is that it looks like an AMC bell. Small differences are going to be hard to tell from just a pic.

AFAIK, If it came off a 258 it should work. T150, and I think, T176 bellhousings are already drilled with the same pattern as the T18. T4 and T5 bellhousings should work, but need to be drilled for the pattern.

On my 258/T4 to T18 bellhousing the bottom two holes were easily drilled and tapped as there were indentions there locating their position. For the upper two holes I just bolted the bellhousing on with the newly made lower holes, marked them, removed the bellhousing, and drilled and tapped.

The pic is of how mine turned out. You can still see some of my marks if you look close.

Muddog, notice the diifference in the size of the clutch fork boot area on BMB's bell compared to yours. This is the easiest way I have found to tell the two main bellhousing styles apart. Most of the info I've read has said to use a T-176 bellhousing. That is what BMB's got I think. Yours is probably from a T-150. I think both can be drilled to work with the front bolt pattern of the T 18, my only question would be is there any difference in depth between the two? Because you have to use a special spacer pilot bushing. I'm unclear on this. Anyone?

I just finished my swap using a T150 bellhousing and did not need a special bushing for the bellhousing. You only need the speical bushing if you use the Ford T18. Because the Frod shaft is shorter. Check with PartsMike to be sure if you want.
You will need to use a 1/2" wheel stud from the flywheel side to mate the T18. Test fit the two together because you may have to grind the stud a little around the base of the stud where it flares for a good fit.
